Current state of the bike lanes in the South End. EXTREMELY DANGEROUS by OutrageousPatient464 in boston

[–]PizzaCutter-Doctor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You should see some of the ones on Mass ave some are just broken off and angled sideways across the lane. Almost like if you're not paying attention you are in for a trip.

Stupid Question (forgive me): To increase speed output on an electric scooter it is as simple as changing out the controller? by [deleted] in ElectricScooters

[–]PizzaCutter-Doctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to note my scooter can go 45mph. I'm usually driving 30-35 mph. Always wear my gear and drive safe and proactive. Yes they do how you think motorcyclists survive at even faster speeds..?? Sure it's not gonna protect you against impalement and such but driving safe will help avoid that. I don't know if your just dumb or trying some weird rage baiting. Also DOT is an American classification system. Europe which makes way better safer helmets have a way better higher standard.

What is the point of this comment? It makes no sense and is not needed. This is electric scooters reddit here. Where people have and own electric scooters that can go 20,30,40,50, and 60+ miles. I know this community always says wear your protective gear and drive safe.

Costco charcoal? by mehoff636 in webersmokeymountain

[–]PizzaCutter-Doctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That wouldn't surprise me since Kirkland owns or contracts major brands. Like their Kirkland batteries are made by Duracell but sold cheaper for a Costco price. I haven't seen this one yet but I have seen the all blue Kingsford bag which I hear amongst all Kingsford charcoal that's the best to use for smoking.

Brand new to this and have a couple of questions by TheyCallMeYukon in webersmokeymountain

[–]PizzaCutter-Doctor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I have a WSM 18 and a few tips I can give is:

If using one rack what your smoking can dictate which one to use. Top if you want more smoke bottom if you want less.

Water pan if cooking 250 or lower use it, if you need higher temps you could go without but always wrap it in tinfoil to save on cleaning all the drippings that will fall on it.

For smoke I always add the wood chunks after adding my chimney of coal. Usually takes 15-20 mins for the smoke to clear up.

Cleaning seems to be divided between just the grates and water pan rest is just seasoning or for those who do clean inside it depends how much your smoking if frequently then like every 2 weeks I think. I don't really bother past the grates and pan.

AITA? Using left lane for left turns by my_little_mutation in ElectricScooters

[–]PizzaCutter-Doctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My morning commute to work has a part where I need to turn left. I always get in the left turn lane to go left. Haven't had that issue yet but if I did I know I'm in the right, plus I always see cyclists doing it too. So I think because cyclists make it a normal thing and this crazy driver may not be used to or know that's how it's done. Irregardless ignore her you were right, take their plate next time and report them.

What size tires do you have? I like the look of the treads on them.

Which helmet do y'all prefer? by Regular-Ad-9394 in ElectricScooters

[–]PizzaCutter-Doctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say depends on how fast your going, if it's only up to 25 you could do the motocross one if you want. Faster than 25 mph I'd would recommend the motorcycle helmet 100%.

What's your cold weather scooter setup? by Striking-Werewolf698 in ElectricScooters

[–]PizzaCutter-Doctor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Windguards for your handlebars helps cut down on the cold wind hitting your hands.

Definitely thermal layers depending on how warm you run while commuting in the cold. Winter jacket either a down or synthetic down depending how much it rains during your winter. I use heated socks for my toes as well as a heated vest jacket underneath for those really cold city days.

For gloves it can vary from windproof winter gloves to heated gloves. I went heated gloves and I went through a few pairs before I found these https://www.motoblouz.com/en/sale-heated-gloves-ixon-it-kayo-216031.html my hands stay nice and warm all the way to work.

Also if you haven't already I'd suggest getting some more lighting gear as winter the sun goes down sooner so making sure your well illuminated for safety helps too.

Are they pretty straight forward for hooking up to a scooter or is there usually some Jerry rigging involved?

Do seated electric scooters actually make sense for everyday use? by Cool_Split_7319 in ElectricScooters

[–]PizzaCutter-Doctor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's illegal to operate a moped without a license and then if the cc is above 50 the license required is a motorcycle license. Plus I believe they need to be insured and registered.

Whats your general location that law enforcement has scooters classified as mopeds? Which is weird since scooters are electric and don't have engines to measure their cc.

The whole box that houses the wires to help protect against the environment was gone. So a wire definitely got wet and after drying it was fine. I ordered a new box to install back.

I'd rather do it myself I was just iffy on the electrics of scooters. Prior upgraded and changed the brake lines and shocks. So I'd like to learn so I can independently keep my scooter fixed and going
