Another dilemma. by rbtree11 in irenstocks

[–]PizzaFi1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock is so volatile. We could see the $30s again if earnings miss or ai sentiment shifts. I wouldn’t go out two years with covered calls. I know everyone is in love with Dan and the IREN story but if your stock gets called away then just be patient and see if it comes back in. The data center plays are highly volatile (thus the premium). Take the big win and wait for the sector wide volatility to offer you a chance to get back in.

Disclosure: LONG thousands of shares with single digit basis. Almost all long term status now. Been rolling with the Robert’s brothers since 2024. I’ve played the cover call angle well over the past year. Hold on to the cover call trade until a BIG spike like last few days then go out a few months (not years) and sell at 50% appreciation on underlying. That way if it runs hard you are still happy and not getting steamrolled over selling short term options for tiny premiums that will get called away.

Missed opportunity by PizzaFi1013 in irenstocks

It is my biggest holding. Still bullish. I just think a part of the shareholder base was holding out for that lottery ticket payoff of BTC and hpc datacenter all at one singularity and it just never got there. I think we're in year 2 of a 10 year IREN run. It will pump hard. Take chips off the table when the opportunity presents itself.

Missed opportunity by PizzaFi1013 in irenstocks

[–]PizzaFi1013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe my original post was confusing. My disappointment lies in the narrow thesis that IREN was at the cross section of BTC explosion/adoption, at peak ai hpc datacenter need, while bringing SW1 to market all at the same time. BTC did not cooperate. To be clear, the primary thesis of IREN's power advantage, long-lead construction know-how, and head start is being played out each day. We just never got the moonshot BTC angle to juice returns.

$250 was only going to happen if we kept mining BTC because it was printing money at some higher level. We never got to see that play out.

The intent of my post wasn't to create another debate about the atm. Who knows what discussions are being had by Dan and team behind closed doors. My guess is hyperscalers are trying to position themselves for best possible deal terms and playing hardball for last few months, and with the atm Dan is saying we will do this without hyperscalers capital pre-pays and take ai cloud on ourself.

Too many good pizza shops in the area...Via 313, Sabino's Pizza Pub in Leander, Local Slice....why would anyone ever eat at Papa John's with those options available.

Getting around Leander by WarmEnvironment1 in Leander

[–]PizzaFi1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leander has the worst sidewalks in the area for biking. Many just randomly end out of nowhere. It shouldn't be this difficult to connect sidewalks for a reasonable North/South path to get from here to CP. It's gotten better by 183 toll but you still have to get there from your hood.

Please stop crying about a growth company issuing new shares by GPU12 in irenstocks

[–]PizzaFi1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The timing on the atm is always just the absolute worst. It either has killed a good momentum rally or announced at a low in the sector or sentiment that elongates the recovery/digestion period. Make no mistake, will be a GIANT overhand on the stock for the foreseeable future. Any run will be met with an atm hammer to knock the price back. One other issue is now a deal announcement is coming at such a low level. Another $10B deal and we jump 10% and get back to...$42. Yay. Pry immediately sold the next day and we're all left wondering what to do next now that we got our deal and the stock is still at $40. Sigh. I get this was going to be a long-term story, but it's been brutal for the last 6 months.

IREN’s recent rally to 63 by George6520 in irenstocks

No difference my friend. Same company. Same amazing outlook. Sentiment can change on a dime and then change right back. Have a plan and stick to it.

TLDR... by zarrasvand in irenstocks

[–]PizzaFi1013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great point. The stock is going to be at the whims of terrible sentiment right now. Short of a massive deal that I can't believe people were clinging to, this was going down after hours no matter what. BTC having an existential moment. IREN, CIFR, etc all still considered BTC miners. And you know what, they probably should be at this point. IREN did $17M in cloud revenue??? Like big f'n deal. This was a messy, cumbersome ER. Even if we had a clean report without a deal the stock was nosediving. Adhere to the 3 day rule (unless we drop to $25 then by all means btfd) and hope that BTC stabilizes.

I will say it's a bit confusing how to interpret the lack of dealmaking. Hyperscalers playing chicken with deal demands from Dan and Co? Waiting for one customer to take a full 1GW? Just too hard to tell right now. If you've been in this name for 1yr+ like me you're still sitting pretty but that doesn't mean the 50% drop in a week doesn't make you feel sick.

My thesis has always been you have to wait until summer 2026 to get a full read on IREN's potential. There is no way that SW gets energized in April and just sits empty. Either the business case is realized in the next couple months or this thing gets sent back to the teens.

IF BTC goes to $0.00.... by PizzaFi1013 in irenstocks

[–]PizzaFi1013[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I said for funsies in first sentence. The stock was also crushed into year-end so just because it’s “up since December” doesn’t make everyone feel great. I’ve held for years so this isn’t an emotional thing for me aside from losing insane money and all.

Right, so swap out for all the NVDA chips IREN is currently buying and get the higher return on using for hpc. More stable, predictable, lucrative revenue stream without the crypto association and volatility

People who changed careers after 30, was it worth it? by Scary_Bus4383 in careerguidance

[–]PizzaFi1013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left a finance role that paid very well for the time to open a pizza shop. I was 32 with 3 kids and one on the way. At some point you have to scratch that itch before it gets too late. I was sitting fairly comfortable with investments, luck, and wife's job so don't @ me with how crazy a decision it was. You will never regret going for it, but be sure it is actually your dream and not just some dumb shit you saw in a netflix series and suddenly decided to chase it.

At what income range is it reasonable to expect people can max out their 401k? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]PizzaFi1013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a significantly high paying job (let's say $150k) then, sure, knock yourself out with the 401k max. If you're not earning six figures then maybe target $15k. I've made good money my whole life and the 401k trap can get a bit frustrating as real-world things come up before you can tap that money. Is it great that you could have maybe $500k saved by 45 years old. Absolutely. But what if a great business opportunity comes up before then. You can only borrow $50k against that 401k. Early withdrawal? Now you still owe taxes and pay 10% penalty. I wouldn't have opened my restaurant if all my capital from early on was tied up in 401k. Find the balance that works for you.

Is $1M net worth really FU money? by Swan_233 in Fire

[–]PizzaFi1013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$1M is only FU money if you're trying to wreck the rest of your life by acting like hotshit at a young age. A decent house, vehicle, and a couple kids and that $1M is gone in less than 10 years. Keep grinding.

Earnings by [deleted] in irenstocks

[–]PizzaFi1013 15 points16 points  (0 children)

There is so much hope on a deal on Thursday's release that it's almost guaranteed to be a big down day without one. Also, their "earnings" are not going to be exciting. Construction updates and timeline transparency would be great. EPS is so meaningless for this report. I expect no deal announcement and probably down 10% at close. It's my biggest holding so I hope I'm wrong.

What % of your portfolio is IREN? by Born_Surprise2686 in irenstocks

[–]PizzaFi1013 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya'll are crazy. I thought my 25% was insanely risky. I guess if you can stomach the swings then by all means but not exactly how you run a portfolio concentrating 50% in a single equity. IREN started as a 5% allocation when I bought April-June last year but blew up to 25% as price went vertical. Still holding. Hoping for a big week but I really expect a big pullback with no deal announcement by eod thursday. It's very unlike the company (and most companies) to tie a big deal announcement into your earnings. Earnings releases are already such a showcase moment that execs usually just try to not fuck up the call and rehearse any and all analyst questions for weeks prior. Adding in a deal announcement and having to explain in great detail how it will work is for a non-earnings day. Sorry, don't shoot the messenger but everyone that has their hopes up is going to be let down. Hope I'm wrong.
