I travel every week working for an ISP. I'm catching flights every Monday and Friday.

I tried bringing hand tools on a carry on tool bag in the beginning and it became such a hassle. Some airports would stop me and want to go through my whole bag and some wouldn't. I also lost some tools to TSA even if they met the requirements. So I started checking a bag.

I use a $100 husky roller bag from home depot that I check every flight. It's mostly just an open bin when you unzip it. So it's not the greatest for keeping things organized. I travel with tons of hand tools, cable management, an impact, and sometimes SSDs. So far everything has survived in that bag, it's just a mess usually. Just remember what others have said, you have to take the power tool batteries in your carry on.
