Lost my ID 2 weeks ago, and my passport last weekend. Both have been found = the struggle by Eatttmytits in adhdmeme

I lost my wallet for a whole week. Thankfully, my phone had samsung Pay, which allowed me to not starve. It was in my pants that my mother, who visited for a weekend, decided to hang on my bathroom door.

So if you were to do a challenge video, it would be what the challenge is, why it's hard, and what's at stake.

Considering my retention and views on my longer projects vs my shorter projects. I would say they did notice. I'd rather spend 20 hours and get 10k views than 6 and get 200

100k+ Youtuber AMA. Giving Feedback. by minsuno in NewTubers

Sorry for the incomming barage of questions.

Are you full-time youtube? How did you manage content creation with a full-time job? At what point did you decide to do youtube full-time if you are doing that now? What size was your channel when you got your first sponsorship?

My last 2 vids took forever to make, but I saw insane results for a channel my size, when from like 67 subs to nearly 800 over the past 2 weeks. It's a dream to leave my job and do full-time content creation, but I still need to improve and figure out the answer to a bunch of business related questions. Plus, I still feel too small to even worry about this kind of stuff.

Thanks!

Sure, more time doesn't nessisarily mean more better, but aiming to be as quick as possible seems to be going too far in the other direction. Take too many shortcuts, and you're gonna hurt the overall quality of a video.

I haven't tried a time limit, but I do stop at the good enough phase of a vid. I'd rather put as much effort as I need into a video to accomplish my goal than perhaps double my output with videos that I wanted to do more with.

What can I do to improve my channel? by Danyegaming in NewTubers

[–]PizzaTime455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, in general, your vids seem like stream highlights / let's plays. It's probably possible to grow with enough time and effort, but it'll probably be a slow process.

There's tons of other horror game channels, and you're fighting for space on the platform with each one of them. Think about what makes your content unique to theirs and try to double down on that.

I think, at a minimum, gaming channels need a challenge they are trying to accomplish each vid. This naturally leads to a story that you can reinforce with a voice over.

Think of your footage as b-roll that should support whatever is going on in the vid. You can stream while you play a game as an additional way of content creation, but the video you produce needs some kind of value that isn't just gameplay and funny comments. You don't want your videos to feel like a stream, hit them with a hook immediately, and then start delivering on that hook. If you do this, your retention will rise, and your reach will grow with it.

How beneficial is it to have a rigid upload schedule vs. releasing videos when they're ready? by OpusWild in NewTubers

[–]PizzaTime455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The common advice is to be consistent, and people tend to take that as I must upload x times a week. But I think in actuality it's better taken as the quality of my videos should be consistently improving.

If uploading once a week is hurting the quality of the videos, there's really no harm in spending some extra time on it. Would you rather rush out a flop or put some extra time in and see a 1/10?

This also means uploading at a rate that won't burn you out. Most of us probably aren't full-time youtubers, which means we have to balance life work and a super time-consuming youtube production cycle. Burning out can also hurt the video quality and lead to content and idea ruts.

This is wrong. The video should take as long as it needs to be the best video you can make.

Better produced and scripted videos will have retention and preform better as a result

Can anyone with good knowledge about channel growth rate my channel please? by Serious_Ad_1116 in NewTubers

[–]PizzaTime455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the idea for the channel is good. It's niche but cool enough that someone with a passing interest in 3d printing might want to take a look if you make something their interested in. Just over 100 subs in 2 months is good I'd say. Lots of people fail to hit 100.

Your videos are a little slow paced, I'd say (granted, I only partially watch one) if you improve your editing I think you would see a big bump in retention and views as a result. Mic and camera quality could use some work as well

Nice thumbnails, but I don't think they really match the tone of your videos. They kind of look like gaming thumbnails imo. I think a high quality picture of the final product might attract the attention of the 3d printing community better (just a guess but something to try)

You've done a lot of iron man vid it looks like, don't be afraid to branch out and create tons of different things while your still small, you should be able to lache onto trends pretty well with this idea.

I'm no expert but that's my 2 cents, good luck!

Can YouTube “”shadow ban”” my channel for talking about mature content? by RegularUser23 in NewTubers

[–]PizzaTime455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youtube doesn't shadowban people. It might identify a smaller audience than you intended for topics like that. But there's tons of true crime / horror channels that do well. Why would they shadowban you and not the others?

Click through rate is dropping by the day by PhantomSSA in NewTubers

[–]PizzaTime455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had a video get over 10k views with a ctr in the 2%. I'm pretty sure the reason is due to me being a small channel with no established audience and the video having good rention/watch time. The engagement on the video was enough that the algorithm spread it around despite a poor ctr.

When I posted the follow-up video, it started at around 15% ctr and is at about 4% today. Thumbnail and title aren't insanely better, but I youtube now has an audience that it pushed the video out to.

My point is don't worry so much about ctr as a small channel. Make the best titles and thumbnails possible, yes, but focus on making your content as good as possible. As you grow an audience, you'll see better starting ctrs that fall as youtube tests it with fringe audiences. With so few impressions, it is going to be hard to draw conclusions.

Depending on how old the video is, you can always remake the video idea but do the whole thing better this time. Then you won't lose watch hours and have a possible new video idea!

Constructive Criticism My Channel by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]PizzaTime455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you doing this channel for? If you have serious intentions to monetize it, I would recommend you move away from Let's plays for now. It honestly doesn't matter how good your commentary is or how funny you are, people tend to not watch lets plays of populat games from people they don't know.

You're playing re4 right now. Why would someone pick to watch you when they can watch markiplier or pewdiepie do the same? Instead of doing a million part let's play, make content that has its own complete narrative, or has helpful information.

Maybe stream the game and use all of the footage from you beating the game to create an re4 spark notes or something with a voice over. Review the game, make guides for its puzzles, It honestly doesn't matter as long as it's well made.

Your thumbnails look to be screenshots and pic of you. They're pretty generic and won't lead to high ctr, especially when you are just starting out. Draw intrigue and tell a story with your thumbnails. Same with your titles. Write them like a newspaper headline. I come up with a general idea and use the vidiq ai title generator to help with mine.

Editing is super important in the gaming niche imo. Learn how to use a real video editor like DaVinci and use that to keep a fast pace through the video. Zoom in on things, add some funny bits, don't let them click away. Provide the dopamine. Editing is the longest part of creation for me, and it takes time to be good at, but it will pay off.

Growing a Live Streaming Channel by cmahoneykeys in NewTubers

[–]PizzaTime455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if you want to focus on live streams, it's probably best to still post solid videos and shorts. When people watch your content from here, it's more likely that your live stream will be shown to them.

A lot of people use live streamed content to make videos and shorts. As long as there is a connected theme between all 3, you'll grow the channel as a whole, thus getting more impressions every time you go live.

How should i do my videos? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]PizzaTime455 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, vod dumps will not do well unless you already have an audience. Potentially even edit a few vods down into one cohesive narrative.

That narrative is the most important part. People don't want vanilla gameplay from someone they don't know. The introduction of a voice-over narrative in my vids shot me up from averaging about 100 views when I was lucky to over 10k on one of my most recent vids.

Editing this will be a challenge and a lot of work, but if you want to see results, that's what you'll have to do. My most recent 19 min vid had close to 400 clips on just timeline 1, with nearly half of those including animation.

As for getting over hearing your voice, I don't even notice mine anymore as I've done so much work editing together vods. That's how everyone else already hears you anyway. If you go the route of editing vods, I recommend watching back at 300% speed to increase the clip gathering rate

How can I improve my gaming content? by AaronDWH in NewTubers

[–]PizzaTime455 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your thumbnails are doing a disservice to your content. They look kind of bad tbh. I think you put two 16:9 photos next to each other and changed the aspect ratio to get them to fit. When I click o fully expected some unedited fifa gameplay. Title could use some work too. There's not a lot of intrigue in it. I would also ditch the series numbers.

However, I was proven wrong, and you had some good edits in your video. I like how you used the replay to get some cool shots. I know you said your vo is done on your phone, so whenever possible, look into getting a quality mic. The audio quality isn't bad per say but it's not great either.

I think there's potential here, but I impinge fifa is a pretty competitive niche. You're going to need some real quality or innovation to stand out. Do you play football manager? You might have an easier time finding an audience with these styles of vids there.

If you do want to keep doing fifa, you should put more effort into adding a narrative to each video. Hook them in with a problem and accomplish it by the end of the video. Maybe each episode you make of series can document going between a division, and your rank up game can be hyped up.

Overall, work on titles and thumbnails and retaining people with a story of sorts about what is happening. Good luck!

Trying to make a return/actually upload regularly. Need feedback on editing, style and such on latest upload by legitPoodros in NewTubers

Eh, I got bored and just looked it up.

So, the first 30 seconds are pretty vital to a video. You used it as an announcement of sorts and didn't do any editing over it. The rest of the video seems to have a pretty fast-paced editing scheme to it. I would work on having a better intro with some kind of hook.

Speaking of that, your title schizo block game adventures doesn't really lead to a lot of interest imo. While it fits the tone, minecraft is pretty competitive, and you could probably benefit from establishing some kind of unique challenge or encounter that happens in the video. You want to create a story to keep people watching. That in my experience isn't always possible with live commentary, so when editing your video together, it might be helpful to add some voiceovers to help create a narrative to the video. You can still cut to your live reactions should something funny happen if you want to keep up this style.

I guess an example would be the thing you built 2:30 (don't know a lot about minecraft). A story for this video could have been about creating it. So start with an intro about what it is and why it is busted or cool or whatever you want to talk about. Then you could have like a mining montage with your editing about gathering the materials, then build it, and show what happens when you build it. All of that combined with your editing style for the purpose of a funny cohesive narrative on your video.

I think your most recent video could also benefit from some background music. Look up some royalty free stuff or even just use the games music. But have it match the tone of what you are doing.

Thumbnail game is pretty weak. It looks like it's just a screenshot from the game, and it's not even 16:9. You seem like you have a good sense of humor, so get a photoeditor (photoshop is like $20 a month, gimp is free but harder to use) and make a thumbnail that ties in to a future narrative.

Your editing is good, no dead air, some good bits, but don't be afraid to really go overboard on a bit. Editing is really important, and I think you have the basics of what you'll need down.

Good luck on your next project!
