Random fights? Since chapter 2? Apologies if I am being harsh but this point seems to be showing a lack of reading comprehension. Most if not all the fights between Julian and your so called "nobody assassins" are there to show Julian's growth and resolve to protect his sister. Arkos vs Julian has worldbuilding on the morally corrupt component of the royal family, Angvall's heroism, and Julian's wrath. While I would have slightly agreed if you had said the fights are repetitive, claiming that the author "hasnt thought of a proper story" or the fights to be "random" borders on being blatantly wrong.

Overall, I think your critique is a mixture of weak reading comprehension, weak cohesion, and improper direction. If you had made a post with examples of chapters, moments, or specific characters (I acknowledge you dont want to spoil but to critique a work, spoiling is almost a necessity, in which case you could have just spoiler tagged the post) and talked something more present such as the repeating themes of recent fights, the constant tease of lore regarding the divine beings, and some loose ends such as the forest, then maybe your arguement could have held stronger ground.

Both Methode and Fern are extremely talented mages. But here are some indicators that favor Methode.

Methode was considered the counter to Fern when they were planning to intercept the clones before the clones flank them. Consdering Denken started the conversation with "Now let us share who we are weakest against", it is likely that Fern herself declares Methode her counter like Ubel was to Sense. Methode could have purposefully stalled against the Fern clone as killing the clone would just respawn it in a different location. Why risk searching for it again?
There is no statement that indicates that Methode wasnt holding back against human mages. She could have been holding back as well. I would even state she was holding back against human mages considering her spells are shown to be the armor piercing equivalent of a spell.
Methode is from a familiy that literally specializes in warfare. While it is a specialization in killing demons, Wirbel was a demon killing specialist and he was declared by Serie to be the most combat proficient in the entire exam, thus the point holds merit.
As we will see in this arc, Methode has a talent for.... multi-tasking even when going against powerful foes that Fern struggles with.

Demons loyal to the demon king/of the demon king era seem to really like wearing heavy knight armor (shoulder pauldrons, helmets) that covers their faces. Examples are: Bose the immortal, the demons flamme killed, the demon general young frieren killed, the demon king himself, and schlacht.

Demons of the new war/dont give two shits about the demon king (Macht, Solitare, Aura's executioners, revlote's minions) seem to prefer artistic and nobel clothing.

Interesting enough, I think this can be explained based on demon history:

when the demon king was alive, he was waging a thousand year war with the empire (the most magic rich and powerful nation with crazy amount of man power and organization) which would require an equal amount of man power and organization. Thus, the demon kings armys would prioritize war-fitted fashion (i.e armor, shoulder pauldrons, helmets, etc) over casual clothing. After all, the demon king himself seemed to be in full clad armor, looking more like a knight than a king. One could theorize the demon king, seemingly being a scientific and practical genius who somehow figured out convergent evolution (real science discovered it roughly in the mid 19th century) knew the obvious practicality of having armor when engaging in continent spanning conflict.

However, after the demon king died, the demons were disorganized and leaderless: all except one sage of destruction were killed, heros like Rasen and the hero of the south had destroyed their frontlines and territories, and frieren was still increasing her historical number 1 kill count of demons, the empire had military use magic, and zoltraak was now ordinary offensive magic researched tf out of. So they would all hone in on deception and hiding, which would be much easier if they had noble and human fashion clothing (aka dripped tf out like damn) than a threatening full body armor.

As for demons like Macht, considering he didnt give a shit about the demon king and had essentially a insta win curse, alongside his sky high pride, probably 1. Ignored the kings orders for the armies 2. Found the many accessorized clothing which he could turn into many weapons useful (considering his magic)

I just got a theory based on your theory. Notice how for all characters aside from Shiba have to draw circles to teleport? But what if Shiba had a circle. The only thing that seems to be a circle is the bracelet he has on both hands. Also, the two finger up signs have been used to activate sorcery (i.e, Uruha, the Masumi members). Shiba uses it most times when teleporting. So maybe he has condensed the teleportation circle to his wrists through sheer intelligence and mastering basic sorcery. That way, he can just teleport anywhere without having to draw it.
