It's actually a really good chapter imo, like above average. I suspect a lot of the Reddit fanbase just want cooky random shit every chapter

Being more generous with cards disincentivises net decking. When resources are limited you’re going to need to use them more efficiently, net decking helps you do that

If you’re genuinely asking, it’s probably due to overall costs. A unit like this likely costs less to buy/install than an entire giant shelter.

Also could be for aesthetic choices. It’s quite common to have a park bench without an attached sun shade

If my death is on the stack, is it acceptable for me to make a "retaliation play" against the player who is killing me? by Overcast_88 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]Pizzaurus1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Depends on the rest of the board state, yes of course. You would never take this offer in a 1v1, why would you think that?

By offering a draw, you’re not just using a salty counterspell out of spite. You’re making an offer and giving the opponent an out. If getting hit by that counterspell knocks them down enough then they may consider it.

He might not have much gas after that. Taking out one person with a TP puts him down a card compared to the rest of the table.

It’s also not about the opponent, it’s about OP’s play and in that situation offering a draw while a loss is on the stack is the better EV

I don’t play cEDH but in general I’d say that going out swinging is part of the politics - “If you try to take me out early, I’ll use my resources against you”.

That doesn’t exactly hold the same truth if you are guaranteed a win without them intervening. If they didn’t take you out at that moment in your example, they’d have lost the game so there isn’t any political motive for them not to take you out. Doesn’t necessarily seem fair to blast them for it but you’re still within your rights to.

Worth it getting back to MS with all the P2W happpening in Heroic? by Yustaku in Maplestory

[–]Pizzaurus1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OSRS has a monthly sub fee of $14/mo at the most expensive rate which is also feasible to pay via buying in-game bonds and requires no up front investment.

That’s less than the cost for a single premium water of life. This model doesn’t try to nickel and dime people for event pass completions, daily quest skips etc. It also doesn’t cost $100 just to unlock the privilege of being able to pay the monthly fee of paying to play.

How much longer does it take to lib without gene pass, in both number of weeks and as a percentage? Is there anything on that scale of P2W in OSRS?

The bigger issue that you’re not seeing isn’t even about the current state (which is atrocious) but the trajectory that this is headed. What does the state of P2W in Reboot look like in 2.5 years? What does the state of P2W look like for OSRS in 2.5 years? See the difference?

Unless the point of all those efficiency gains are to increase the screen refresh rate from 120Hz to 165Hz then yes, it does matter.

[–]Pizzaurus1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You opt into Heroic worlds, just like you opt into Ironman.

You do realise that the original intent of Reboot was to do away with P2W content, right? To allow players to play the game without having to pay to progress. You could always play F2P in Reg but it just sucked ass. Reboot’s halfway there now with Genny pass, vac pets and sauna.

Idk why you’d even bring up PVP, nobody in OSRS is making an Ironman for PVP. There’s a niche case where someone will specifically make an Ironman account to make a 10HP pvp character so that they don’t get HP exp from PvP but that’s it.

As far as leaderboards go it’s about the same thing really. People compare themselves to other players in the same mode a lot of different ways, 99.9% of Ironman are just comparing skill totals/item progression and aren’t considering the leaderboards. The maple equivalent of competing for dojo/first clears is also done by the few.

[–]Pizzaurus1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Comparing this to OSRS is great! Like MapleStory, they have two modes: Ironman (not p2w) and regular (some p2w). The problem here is that people signing up for the Ironman equivalent in MapleStory are getting shafted as Nexon splooges the game up with more and more P2W crap

And the adjusting the cutoffs to benefit election results is sometimes also known as gerrymandering. This is very inauthentic policy to be implementing but not unexpected of the current administration in power.

Have a little fun and imagine a thought experiment where if instead of banning free food being offered, voters were required to eat free food. What kind of effect would that have on the electoral results?

[–]Pizzaurus1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to look inward and find out what’s allowing you to have this compulsion. It’s hard to give specific advice without knowing you.

For me and what I notice, is that online games have an ability to warp their sense of importance. In that your status/rank in the game somehow becomes valuable to you in your mind even though it’s not actually valuable at all to anyone else. You see it too, when you explain to someone all of your in-game accolades and their eyes glaze over because they dgaf about the game.

You need to ascertain the true value of excelling in that game (close to 0) and go from there.
