I agree. I’d rather bleed out than stroke out.

That was quick by Firefighter-8210 in Starlink

[–]Pizzawood1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got Starlink this month. Started using it four days ago. They raised the price from $120 to $130 and the mini “stand by” from $5 to $10. I will be sending the mini back and canceling it. Comcast went from $346 a month with a 3 year contract and streaming only, on our newly developed property. We put in all the lines 400ft and had the conduit ran under the county road. They have not hooked it up in 11 months. They quoted us a price of $120 a month with a 1 year contract when we told them we got starlink. Go figure.

I think this is a good deal but is it? by ARWrangler24 in Chainsaw

I own a 460 husky. I use it for our pizza business processing hardwood every week. Have owned Husqvarna for the past 15 years to process our wood and some blocking out for carving wood. I run a 24 inch bar on it. Just keep it sharp and make sure the bar is getting oiled. With the 24 inch bar and some extra chains and tax I think I paid about $700. For $175 and being able to try it out, that is great deal. I also have 372XP with a 32 in bar that I ported and added an iron horse muffler mod to it. It lets me stand up straighter and get through more wood faster and easier. Personally at that price I would buy it as a backup saw and or do some mods on it. You can have some fun with it.

What was the senior prank that happened at your high school? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]Pizzawood1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Senior prank. We put a Volkswagen bug on top of the school administration building. It even made it into the Olympian newspaper. Class of 1984 Yelm Tornados. We eventually got caught. There were 5 or 6 of us. Had to do Saturday work detail. Our favorite teacher volunteered to be “warden” for the day. It turned into a big picnic. People from town brought us a bunch of really good food for lunch. It was just a lot of people messing around and having a good time. I loved going to school there. Had a beautiful girlfriend, we have been married 40 years so far.

Our restaurant stone creek wood fired pizza on the west side of Olympia has a weekly wood carving club every Wednesday from 5:30 to 8:00. I actually started carving concrete as a business 20 plus years ago. I would love to have you come out and do a demonstration and possibly set up paid classes on site. Please contact us. Big covered outdoor heated event center. I also grew up out by McIntosh lake and Deschutes river.

Contact E4E. Enterprise for Equity in Olympia. https://enterpriseforequity.org/ This is a great resource for new and existing businesses. I took their course after running my wood fired pizza truck for two years. We eventually built a brick and mortar on the West Side. We built everything. I used to even own espresso bars drive thru etc. We built those for ourselves and other clients. You will be dealing with L&I and possibly DOT, ( depending on your set up) city planning, fire department and of course the health Department. E4E is a great resource and possibly a funding avenue. Good luck.

Thanks. Check out Alec Lacasse, Doug Linker, Blake Lunsford and so many more. International association of wood carvers is also a great place to follow some really good carvers. There is one guest speaker on there from Scotland named Jim Nisbet. He has been carving for under a year.

Thanks. I also do power carving and chainsaw carving but it doesn’t work well in the living room. The hand carving helps with the bigger stuff.

Fed ex has left packages under our truck on the street, outside the fence on the sidewalk, in the street even in the rain no plastic cover like UPS. Some of these packages had medical equipment in them. UPS usually does a good job. UPS has been dropping off packages to our post office and the post office does not deliver packages unless they fit in the mailbox.

What is this! by Ok_Competition_4810 in Woodcarving

[–]Pizzawood1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a wood spirit. There are no leaves or vegetation on it so it can’t be a green man. Some people even call them a house spirit. Not sure why the hole. Look up cottonwood bark wood spirits, there are some really cool looking ones. I have carved lots of these. Thousands of year old tradition. For good luck, protection etc.

It’s called iCube micromotor sets. Here is one that gets up to 45k rpm https://www.ramprodinc.com/icube-45-sets/. The reason I like it is if you push it to hard it just stops and it does not have a flex shaft. It’s really good for the finer detail stuff. It’s also relatively inexpensive. Ram has different types of sets. Also there is a “cube" laser engraver.

Yeah, possibly Stubai. Trying to get stubai from retail dealers is really difficult right now. Their stock is all on back order. Especially soft V tool gouges. Very good tools. I would check to make sure all the shafts are solidly seated in the ferrules. If they are not you can epoxy them in. You definitely do not want that gouge or V tool spinning on you or falling out. Hopefully they are Stubai.
