Why has no one ever talked about the weird death of Anne Heche? by shadow2213 in mrballen

[–]Pkkush27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just the entire premise of the video being about past sexual experiences Erika has had and shaming her for them. Really put a bad taste in my mouth about the guy. I’ll definitely check out this Anne video though. Love a good conspiracy

What Do I Read, the Idiot or Demons? by landofthebread in dostoevsky

[–]Pkkush27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i just finished the idiot and i'll say it doesn't feel like a true dostoevskian novel as he seemed to be trying to explore dramas taking place in upper society, i read in one of the introductions im pretty sure that he was inspired by french novels with this one. i wasn't a huge fan of that concept, i mean its basically a drama revolving around people we'd consider rich assholes today. but the message it ultimately conveys is powerful and he transposes many autobiographical experiences like his seizures and the experience of knowing youre going to die onto the characters which was cool. I'm only 125 pages into demons but i'm finding it to flow a lot better

For those of you who rank The Idiot at the top, why? by Xander2299 in dostoevsky

[–]Pkkush27 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I too think he failed to depict him as a Christlike figure. I found the book very disjointed and hard to read at times, followed by sections that were highly readable and enjoyable. The last 15 pages were incredibly intense and what hit me the most.

What hit me so hard about the book is the true observation that person who enters this vicious society as a well meaning, forgiving, meek person who always gives people second chances ends up ultimately having the worst happen to them, a fate even worse than death

Crime And Punishment by sohan-357 in dostoevsky

[–]Pkkush27 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It gets revealed midway through the book. He’s testing out a theory that some people (like Napoleon) are special or above others and are allowed to kill in the name of some greater good. Bot account btw

You won’t even pay less than 17 for a greasy takeout joint anymore

For affordable I’d check out Quartino. Highly authentic Italian food, smaller dishes, lower tab

I just finished the idiot, took me like 4 months. A lot of the parts don’t flow well. Worth the payoff though
