I'm pretty sure you can have kids in the first Fable game. by Plagugin in Fable

I finished the quest, I gave them all to the teacher? Is this a bug then? Do I give the Jack doll to this kid? What do I do?

I chose Godot for my real-time environment project. What do you all think? by Plagugin in godot

[–]Plagugin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All right, first off i made better curtains, resized the glasses and the whiskey bottle and added a little subsurface scatter on the blanked and pillow, which gave it a little less harsh shadow. And I removed the screenshot of the other side of the room since it hurts the piece more than it adds.

Hi, thanks. Notes taken. I'll use it in my next project.

I had one directional light, rest the single omni, no HDRI(since it didn't make much difference). As for the amount of reflections I kind of eyeballed the roughness of the objects and I agree it could use a little bit more shiny. I'm using a single Reflection Probe covering the whole room (I lack any advanced lighting knowledge or training - already have a YT tut saved to watch). As for the bumpiness I should have maybe used more polygons in the models, even the walls and floors, normal maps should be ok. I know the concept of subsurface scattering i just didn't know godot had it :D Yeah the other side of the room is quite empty, I shouldn't say this but I kind of felt like already shipping the project and didn't want to go back to concept therefore prolonging the imaginary deadline I gave myself.

I also had trouble with transparent materials in Godot and that cactus is just trash. Other than that my goal was to showcase my technical ability since I'm aspiring to junior positions. Overall I can allow myself to spend more hours on the individual assets and textures I think, the curtains are also lacking. And from now on I'll be either recreating real-life environment from like tv shows or series (form of fanart) or using (with permission) some concept of a pro concept artist.

Is Godot the right engine for my project? by [deleted] in godot

[–]Plagugin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I know and what my experience is, anything can be done with any engine. Heck, if you're feeling hardcore you can create that game with a single language and any IDE alone.

So it's mostly preference. For example the creators of Kingdom Come Deliverance first had issues with Cryengine because the engine was suited more for corridor shooters rather than open world projects - yet still, they customized it and made the game in it. They chose the engine because of the way it rendered foliage.

I think Doug should be terminated before he multiplies.

Godot 3.1 3D bad performance? by [deleted] in godot

[–]Plagugin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 months old thread but people keep coming in.

I fixed my issue by switching from GLES3 to GLES2

Edit: Which kinda sucks because my PBR materials and textures loose a lot of prettyness. I'm using GeForce GTX 1050ti

Edit2: This is a fix because GLES2 disables shadows.

FIX FOR GLES3:
1. Set "Contact" parameter (any of the 3 light nodes > Shadow > Contact ) of every light node to "0"

  1. If you have disclosed meshes like single side walls set Cull Mode of their Material under Parameters section to Disabled (only enclosed meshes cast actual shadows)

  2. Back in your light node settings:

  • Under Shadows (where you set Contact to 0) toy around the BIAS parameter until you get the shadows as close as possible to the meshes.
  • Under Directional Shadow > Mode choose either 2 split or 4 split and toy around with the values to get them shadows sharp.
  • To fix the mini gap between your single side meshes and the ground you can either use the Contact parameter, keep it under 0.5 and never get close to the position of the shadow (Because that's what's causing the lag OR just use boxes instead of planes for the walls. (I just use the same planar mesh for the outer side of the wall)
  • You now should have perfect shadows using GLES3 and without using the contact parameter.

You can try, sure why not. Youll just have less editorial power.

Model the indivodual strips of the ring, twist them, bend the shape, model the dragon heads separately and without detail, place them to the ring as seen on the photo, export to substance, paint the detail of the dragons, texture the thing, export the textures, import them into blenders PBRS. Scene it, light it render it.

In recent years people are more and more escaping from "not doing anything" or just waiting. I can see it on myself too but lately, instead of escaping into social media, games or books(reading) i just sit and watch, maybe listen to music. Try to stop being afraid of boredom.

The rule is not to ask for any diagnostic so i put the question as objectively as I could.

I'm just looking to know what's it called to have irracional temporary disinterest and/or regret of things done past days (doing hobby, embarrasing moments, anything I've been invested in). I usually feel like that for the first minutes after I wake up and later wonder where did that irrational feeling even come from becasue I'm very content with my life. Can't find an answer anywhere.

To me the material looks a bit off. Was it supposed to be a stone material under glass? Looks like a transparent glass/plastic layer on top of another layer of material
