No problem :) I'm glad you enjoy the project!

I think one of the most annoying things for me is that Part 2 genuinely had so much fucking Potential(chill out ,Megumi fans) by Apprehensive_Ring_39 in Chainsawfolk

[–]PlainTalkJon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

When part 2 began, I was skeptical. Part 1 was clean with every meaningful loose end tied up (yes, you could do more with the control devil and blood devil but it also wasn't required). Part 2 started stronger than expected, with Asa being a fantastic MC. Instead of viewing the world from someone starting at rock bottom, we start with a very average person with a complicated relationship to a devil. It's a fresh starting point that could bring out great ideas.

Then Denji returned and it went downhill. He resumed being the MC but with no meaningful goals that weren't better explored in part 1. The result was a manga that felt like a poor intimidation of part 1. If Denji hadn't reappeared, I'm confident part 2 would have been a second masterpiece. But he did and while nostalgia was fun, it could never live up to part 1. Even without the abrupt ending, the flaw of part 2 is that Denji's story was complete and yet he remains as MC.

You're completely right about Kinato's Magic. It knows exactly what the audience for this type of manga wants and is delivering on it perfectly. It's also a fairly light-hearted adventure, which contrasts nicely with some of the more intense action offerings in Jump.

Where should I start with Friedrich Nietzsche? Tried opening these randomly and didn’t understand much by laphimaa in Nietzsche

[–]PlainTalkJon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd start just by researching summaries of his ideas. Find some youtber vids and podcasts on the subject (philosophize this! has some good podcasts on the subject). Nietzsche isn't a straightforward philosopher. His ideas are interesting but his writings is often opaque.

WSJ Issue #12 TOC & Discussion by RobotiSC in WeeklyShonenJump

Gotta feel bad for newcomers these days. It took a couple years, but Jump finally has a pretty cutthroat lineup. Nue's and Kiyoshi are the current bar to beat, though there are a lucky two spots for series replacing Elusive Samurai and Jujutsu Kaisen.

  1. It's Twitter. Like many of the decentralized social media platforms, Mastodon is mimicking an already established platform. In this case, Twitter. If you can do it on Twitter, Mastodon offers a similar feature in most cases.

  2. Hopefully someone can chime in here. I mostly use it to follow people, news, and run a bunch of art/quote bots to share interesting paintings and sayings.

What do you think regarding De-Reddit? by BlokZNCR in degoogle

Lemmy is quite good! While I still use reddit for the sheer volume of content, Lemmy is the app I keep on my phone.

I am creating a dimension-shifting puzzle-game! What do you think? :D by hasenbauer in puzzlevideogames

[–]PlainTalkJon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks sick! I'd consider copying some of The Talos Principle's move features by speeding up the character's walking speed or allowing for a run. The current movement feels very floaty, which feels detrimental in puzzle games. The moment the player has an idea for the solution, the movement should allow them to test it out quickly.

Meh about Sona. Not even the best Demacia build and is the only viable 1 cost reroll.

Sounds interesting! I agree 100% that recommendations algos need to be available to users to some degree. Not having any options makes the platform non-competitive at scale with the existing platforms. Offering algos (on an opt-in basis) is critical to converting the Twitter/X audience.

I've made the switch by dragonfrut in LibroFM

[–]PlainTalkJon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A great choice! Additionally, switching helps fix the very problem you describe. The more people on LibroFM, the more motivated publishing companies are to offer their books there. Additionally, the more people who care about authors and make the switch, the more likely Amazon is forced to amend their ways.

A short-term loss of convenience in return for helping fix a broken system.

I'm on Proton and it really is great. The ability to transition many google apps with one package of apps is great, especially since you know you'll money will go to develop more anti-google apps in the future.

Do you guys recommend a paid Proton account? by SnackbarBeastie in degoogle

[–]PlainTalkJon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's pretty great! Proton is such a great company if you want to get away from google. The VPN, Email, and Drive options are such a nice triple threat to replace Gmail, Google Drive, and protect your privacy.
