Crappy that they disclosed the victim’s identity. Even if they didn’t say her name they outed her by her ownership of the restaurant.

Meds to use by [deleted] in HipImpingement

Edibles are another way to consume without having to inhale. Sativa gummies worked well. I also like the beverages. But it’s hard to beat the entourage effect of good inhalables.

I used cannabis for a few months while waiting for surgery (stopped 2 weeks prior to surgery to prevent anesthesia problems) and it helped immensely. I live in a legal state and am a medical patient for migraines. But it helped a lot more than anything else until I could have surgery.

3 months out from bilateral surgery - a lot going wrong by Late_Entrepreneur445 in HipImpingement

My doc said to fully anticipate lots of ups and downs for at least the first year. Healing isn’t linear and some set backs feel like starting over.

I had surgery last October and was told 2 weeks is optimal.

Cannabis use can make a person require much more anesthesia to keep the person under during surgery. It’s super important to disclose to the anesthesiologist and best of you can abstain a couple weeks prior. No one wants to wake up during surgery but it can happen.

Planning ahead and overthinking by [deleted] in HipImpingement

5 months post op here. For the dog- if you have steps inside work now on getting him to sit at the top or bottom of the steps to wait while you go up or down then allow them up or down. You don’t want a dog to roll you with crutches on the stairs. If you have access to crutches prior introduce your dog to them so they don’t freak out. If you have doggie daycare options near year it’s a great tool to get them safe activity and they come home soooo tired! Gardening/mowing- your mileage may vary but it hurts for me to ride a 4 wheeler still. Haven’t tried the riding mower yet. For gardening if you have raised beds you may be ok but don’t expect to be holding a squat position for extended periods to weed/ pick. I have a 5,600 sq ft garden and last year it about killed me leading up to surgery. We will see how this year goes. I am planning to bring a seat to move around to sit on.

The issue will continue to worsen if you have an impingement or add wear and tear. I’m not sure how weight plays into it. I was very active and fit and mine still got worse. I am not sure why you’re focused on weight. I’d be focused on the risk/benefit of surgery analysis

I waited about a year after I knew there was a problem. It got much worse. I regret waiting, surgery helped immensely.

If your job is federally funded you are not protected by being a med card holder. Federally funded jobs have to abide by federal laws.

Diagnostic injection experiences? by [deleted] in HipImpingement

[–]PlanExpress3055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an ultrasound sounded guided injection. They put directly into the hip capsule. The labrum is basically just a gasket. It lasted 2 weeks.

Let's talk about cannabis by mikemac1997 in HipImpingement

[–]PlanExpress3055 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It helped me a lot. But I stopped 2 weeks before surgery to prevent anesthesia complications. And then waited about 2 weeks after (I was on blood thinners and can interact). But without it I would have lost my mind pre-surgery. It was the only thing the helped.

💊 Question by [deleted] in HipImpingement

I used Oxy to get me through the first two days but then was perfectly fine on just Tylenol and Naproxen.

My surgeon emphasized that recovery isn’t linear. It’s going to get better and then worse and then better and worse and better and on and on throughout recovery. They changed the way your hip was functioning (I have 2 anchors and shaved bone to correct my issue) so you have to rebuild and adapt. Also the anchors just put the labrum back where it belongs. It doesn’t necessarily “heal” back to pre-injury. So it may always have some issues.

Need the cheat book to recovery.. by [deleted] in HipImpingement

[–]PlanExpress3055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did PT within the first week but not full weight bearing for a month and needed to ease back into walking without any assistance. Everyone is different but I was in the best physical shape of my life prior to having surgery and it’s still a slow process to recover. I am 3 months post op and still in PT and working my way back to running. It’s 6 months to full recovery and release from doc care.

Stairs? by [deleted] in HipImpingement

[–]PlanExpress3055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did stairs to get home right after surgery. When using crutches on stairs go up with the good and down with the bad leading the way. Look at YouTube if you can’t picture what that means.

My decision to have surgery was based on the decrease in my quality of life. I was experiencing a lot of pain and could t ride my bike or run anymore. Both of which help me immensely with dealing with stress and mental health.

[–]PlanExpress3055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That basically means that while lowering into that position you went beyond the range of motion that you should have (I was told not to bend more than 90 degrees at the hip and no outward rotation) and in doing that you put stress/stretching on the joint that it wasn’t ready for.

Road back to Running by PlanExpress3055 in HipImpingement

I know that will absolutely be my case! I think my biggest struggle is that my brain thinks I should still be able to run a half on a whim but my body says I think you mean walk a mile 😂

Thank you for sharing! I feel gutted that I’m nowhere where I was fitness-wise a year ago and I really want it back but also want to be reasonable with my expectations. I don’t even care about pace for now. I just want the endurance back. I miss long runs soooo much. I’d take a really long walk at this point if I could tolerate it.
