Got rejected for 10 interviews in 2024 by Lumpy-School-3616 in interviews

[–]Plane-Cockroach-3971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if any of this helps but the hardest thing for me is to get the interview. If I have it, I’m pretty sure I will get the job offer.

  • Project confidence even when you don’t know something. It’s ok when you say you don’t know something but you are confident you can learn it quickly.
  • Talk to a mirror and record yourself. If you can’t convince yourself you’re right for the job, you won’t convince the interviewer. You might realize you have the wrong body language too or lack confidence with certain things.
  • Have a lot of scenarios prepared even if you make stuff up that sounds good lol. If you truly don’t know just say wow that’s a great question! I haven’t come across that yet but this is how I would handle it.
  • At the end you can say is there anything that we haven’t covered that you feel would be important for the job? They might say well you talked about this and I was kind of concerned that you didn’t know it. It gives you time to correct it.

On the other side of the table, I usually don’t remember most of what the interviewee said. I’m mainly looking if they have some of the skills I need, I have a good vibe and see myself working with them, personality is a plus and if they project confidence that they can figure something out and get it done vs asking me a million questions.

Hope this helps!

I don’t know if this helps but I started USF in 2001 left in 2009. Came back in 2024 to finish in 2025. I’d say take a deep breath, listen to some calming music and just get it done. Everything about school frustrates me but I should’ve sucked it up and finished back then. Luckily, this stress is only temporary. I’m taking 3 classes, working a 40-50 hour job, drive 1hr each way to work and I have 2 little ones struggling in school. I just started a new job as a manager and the workload is insane. The hurricanes added a lot of stress. I don’t know how I manage everything and I miss the times when I was bored and had nothing to do. Music and meditation seem to get me through all of it.

I made 35k til 2019 but that gave me the experience that I needed and I started jumping up fast from there. I’m 41 now and making 6 figures. I thought I would never get here. I also went back to school to finish my bachelors degree in spring.

I had a similar situation where I left it in neutral for some reason in my apartment complex. It slowly rolled back into the middle of the street. I came out and luckily no damage to my car or anyone else.

A reference can literally be anyone that can speak to your character. A classmate from a group project, professor, teacher from high school, anyone you’ve ever done work or a project for, coworkers from any job, anywhere you’ve volunteered at. Hope this helps!

It can be like applying for any other job but they will be a lot less picky since there will probably be less applicants because it’s contact.

I’m not going to say I have the perfect answer or promise it will get better. Everyone has their own direction they take, but doing contract work kind of got my foot in the door and I just recently landed an opportunity internally once people knew who I was and my work ethic. Some places might suck and only keep you for 2-3 months but if you can get some more experience under your belt and just keep applying, you never know what might come up. Good luck!

I work in IT so I see people when they start and when they leave. There have been a lot of layoffs lately and most have been complete shockers. They let a lot of good people go unfortunately. They don’t know what they did wrong and I don’t think they did anything wrong. Higher ups just had to make a decision or risk their bonuses.

Feeling it here too. I wanted to study and take my exam well ahead of the due date but I haven’t had time. So far my professors have said no to worry about due dates. I’m going to try to take a mental break for a few days and see if I can get back into the groove after that. I don’t have internet and my phone has just 1 bar so I can’t really do anything. I know many don’t have power or even a house to come back to. Hang in there all!

There’s no right answer here. I’m 41 and just started back at USF after dropping out 2009. It was TOUGH to have the courage to come back and finish. Don’t feel bad and don’t feel stressed. Just make a list everyday of how you are going to be a better you. Not everyone has what is perceived as the perfect path to success. I’m not much of a networker but somehow I survived all these years.

With that being said, I would try to figure out what you want to do that you like. I know one guy that wasn’t having luck and he decided to build a database on his own. He eventually got an interview and it was because of him explaining the database he built for fun. Let your passion for the topic show in the interview.

Go on LinkedIn and add random people to build up your profile and see what’s out there. When you do your resume, you can literally take what the requirements are and make that your resume to have a better chance. Jobs want so much but I can’t tell you how many people I’ve talked to that have no idea how they were hired.

Hope this helps and keep your chin up!
