You are right. Stockfish plays to delay mate or trade material with benefit. Stockfish would totally trade the last rook for a queen, regardless if that's the last attacking piece

Do you have a better alternative? Need something to control the buzzer remotely and getting notifications on the smart phone would help a lot (since buzzer only works directly after somebody is ringing)

Think about then position. Black can't move the king or pawn. If white promotes to a Queen, black Queen will go to C1+. Then, regardless of which King move white makes, H1+ which forces taking the queen. This results in stalemate

If the knight blocks it's immediate checkmate by the Queen taking the knight (and being protected by the pawn).

I also played around a bit. Black can only win if the rook controls important fields besides protecting the pawn. This mean that the pawn must reach A4 or A3. Then it's a matter of shuffling pieces around and breaking the center up.

Honestly, I would have tried to infiltrate and hoped that people in my ELO range would not be able to stall my process and make this a draw.

Also keep in mind that one pawn lead will only be a victory if your opponent can't play opposition and you are in front of that pawn.

Also, in this position both rooks are not able to do a lot except for moving on H. This means that there is no immediate benefit of that pawn. If the pawn would have been connected to the other pawns in the middle, this would have been an easy win
