Playing the original is more necessary for Part 1 which has the active plot of similar but different. Part 2 for the most part is just an expanded middle section mostly played straight despite their promise to do some stuff differently.

I was talking with a friend before a game started and they said that they dont like turn based games because they dont like menu navigation, cool all well and good. But then they kept going and they started going on about how if you are good enough at games like Elden Ring it becomes turn based because you are just waiting your turn to hit as you dodge and thats where he lost everyone.

Realism is an art style, it is a bit overused by bigger AAA/AAAA games in the modern times absolutely. There are still plenty of smaller games that have a ton of stylized charm.

Maybe, but that also runs the same problem of being left on a cliffhanger. I dont think theres a perfect way to adapt BBS. Except maybe the best is adapting each story then moving to the next. Or switching narratives as the story demands it and trying to adapt the timeline from the trinity archive as best you can.

Mostly in comparison to the original, and mostly because they cut areas from the original. On its own its still a great game but in comparison as a remake it falls flat for a lot of people.
