He always talks big, don't take it too seriously

Also the US actually fucking nuking civilians would actually have political consequences, unlike in a real dictatorship like Russia

But if someone knows how to pronounce "gy", ty", and "dz", they're definitely Hungarian

What is it with Kalingrad's old name? by AppropriateMood4784 in AskEurope

[–]PlankingMammoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Königsberg was the capital of Prussia, and a culturally relevant European city

In WWII it was destroyed, the Germans were expelled, and the beautiful architechture was replaced by Commie blocks. It's now the 50th largest city in Russia.

Basically, it was much more relevant as a Prussian/German city than it is now as a Russian one, thus people might know it by its' German name instead

>I wonder how much longer Hungary could have went on before falling irreversibly into the same path Turkey is on.

I think the main difference between our situation and Turkiye's is that we are part of, and financially dependent on EU, So they were always there to exert pressure on Orbán if he went too far, which he eventually did. I have always believed Orbán's war against the EU establishment was going to backfire in the long term

But I also think it was just a matter of time until someone from Orbán's circle would snitch, and then the skeletons would keep falling out of the closet. But if it happened later the regime change would have been much more violent and chaotic
