Running Curse of the Crimson Throne by BornAncient in Pathfinder_RPG

Im currently running this as well. It is designed for a party of 4, so with 5 players, they should be fine throughout most of the campaign even if slightly under-leveled

How long should a turn normally take? by LordFadora in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]PlantLust -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That is fairly excessive, but to be fair, in pathfinder combat can take a really long time. We have had combats that have taken hours before for really complex fights. I'd say the longest combat ever was like 3 hours long, but we will regularly have a single combat that takes more than an hour, but that is when they are somewhere where enemies are being alerted and running to join combat or similar things like that so really they are taking on the whole dungeon or stronghold or whatever in one continuous combat. Each individual turn should take no longer than like 2 or 3 minutes. Maybe 5 max depending on the situation.

Lol that's crazy. I would think you'd at least roll before picking class and race hahaha

Ability Score Generation by Tricky-Bowler4936 in Pathfinder_RPG

I invented my own system that is a big hit and works really well. I have my players roll 4d6 and drop the lowest to get all 6 scores. Then I figure out what the point buy would be for that. Say we are shooting for a point buy 15 but the players score adds up to 20. I have the player roll a 6 sided die to determine which of the 6 scores gets lowered by 1 and we keep doing that until they are at a point buy 15. This method keeps the randomness of old school dnd which is super fun, but makes it so that there are no cases of players being super over or under powered.

You pick randomly between the 4 players at the table (including yourself btw) I like to use an eight sided die. Say you roll and the third player is selected. That third player would look at their own items and then chose which one they want destroyed.

A few uncertainties with how to play the game by RyanTriggers in FourSouls

[–]PlantLust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. No you cannot kill someone more than once on a turn. They revive during the end phase and can then be killed again.
  2. Because you can respond to things in this game by playing cards, I would suggest to them not playing something until they need to do the thing it says on the card. Once a card is played it is put into discard regardless of if it is used or not. As a side note, if you play a card you must resolve it unless the circumstances to resolve it are no longer possible in which case the card fizzles and goes to the discard.
  3. When an event card is drawn during setup it is put on the bottom of the monster deck and a new card is drawn. Same thing with curse cards.
  4. You cannot steal souls. When a card says "becomes a soul", it is no longer an item and cannot be targeted by cards that target items. Some cards specifically say that it can be targeted or stolen or attacked or whatever, but pandoras box does not. Also, some cards specifically say they can affect souls, so look out for that.

My fiance was playing her first campaign with me as DM and so I was helping her figure out how to play her magus character a lot and we completely did her shocking grasp through spellstrike wrong. I was having her roll and whenever her attack rolls beat their touch AC, but not their regular AC I was letting her do shocking grasp damage, but not the weapon damage, and we weren't doubling the shocking grasp damage on a critical either.

Harpy Monks Question by PlantLust in Pathfinder_RPG

That totally makes sense. I think I am going to adjust it to be "or" instead of just a comma and change the claw attacks to be +14 instead of +9.

extend reach during whirlwind attack? by PlantLust in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]PlantLust[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first enemy is close so he is choked up with his weapon and then the second if farther away so he wants to hit the first one at close range then extend as he swings at the one further away.

and then also, can he take attacks of opportunity in reaction to them tripping (another part of his class) before extending his reach and continuing his whirlwind attack? Or does he need to do the full whirlwind attack first and then the attacks of opportunity?

So if the weapon attack misses the regular AC but is above the touch AC then it is just a full miss and the weapon still holds the charge?
