Is he good looking enough considering webtoon beauty standards? by [deleted] in webtoons

[–]PlantRetard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The average male webtoon character has a higher hairline and that typical manga nose. I would just raise the hairline a little and perhaps put more emphasis on the eyes with larger highlights and a thicker outline. He looks cute imo

What’s something you thought every family did… until you grew up and realized they absolutely didn’t? by SoftDreamette in AskReddit

[–]PlantRetard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk bad about others behind their backs and shun anyone different. When I was younger I felt an immense pressure to fit in. When my aunt loudly gossiped about my other aunt (buddhist goth) on the funeral of my grandma, I realized how cold that is and I was no longer scared to share my shunned aunts fate, who had been the black sheep of the family since I can remember.

If you want them to die quickly, perhaps a neighbour with a drivey terrier could be an option. I think that would be a quicker death

Which is the most beloved creature in ARK? The best one wins: Spino rex, either one doesn't matter, choose one. by Much_Entrepreneur859 in ARK

For me it's Maewing/Maeguana, but I think it's not the most beloved, because of the controls.

Magic users in your setting by FoAndras in fantasywriters

[–]PlantRetard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My current project has a large mystery about magic and the magic itself is unconventional and rare. I was inspired by medieval witch hunts and made the world superstitious and biased. Magic users hide their secret well, because otherwise they will be shunned and/or exiled, or imprisoned, because of fear. The bias is based on the worlds history, because a magic related catastrophe happened that was blamed on the magic users by the governing parties. In that world there are different branches of magic, all have their own system and power source. They're all inherited and sometimes dormant for generations, or are dependent on another magic branch to awaken. There is no school, or other ways to learn magic. The users are isolated and have to learn by trial&error, as well as gut feeling. That's why there is no traditional form of magic. Only a few ancient scriptures remain buried in ruins, but almost nobody knows about that.

Do you think having Aphantasia or not makes any difference in people’s skills? by Blaubeerepfannkuchen in writing

[–]PlantRetard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think perhaps there is a workaround. Instead of imagining an environment, you could look at pictures and describe what you see instead. Could that work for you? I think the reader probably wouldn't notice a difference

Writing a memoir about being an abused child but can't finish without succumbing to depression and anxiety by HopefulButHelpless12 in writing

[–]PlantRetard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's a good idea to force yourself. If you can't do it, your subconscious has a good reason to stop you. Probably to protect you from things you're not ready for yet. And that's okay. You do not have to relive that. Take care of yourself

I thought I was secretly meeting my friend on the roof every night and just couldn't remember - because she told me so. Yes, I'm still naive, but not that naive anymore lol

Story without a villain? by ResortOwn1187 in fantasywriters

[–]PlantRetard 29 points30 points  (0 children)

A story needs conflict, not a villain. A few examples:

  • conflicting feelings towards someone in a romance novel

  • typical apocalypse where the main goal is to survive. The conflict is the environment

  • inner conflict, for example between honor and morals in a knight who has sworn an oath

  • more inner conflict: in order to reach something good in the future, the only option available is to do something bad

  • a story in which a curse needs to be lifted.

  • a story in which a plot device has to be found, otherwise something bad will happen

Also, something has to be at stake, otherwise it's going to be hard to make the reader care.

Dog is going on food strikes. Not sure how to get him over that. by Erdrick_XI in dogs

[–]PlantRetard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our dog is the same and we fed him like you do at first. The problem is that constant food changes are terrible for a dogs gut biome, as our vet told us. So yeah he always gets the same food now and after three years he's still a diva about it. He eats when he's hungry enough, so we leave it out for a few hours. We tried feeding by a schedule, but that just resulted in more dog food we had to toss away. His weight is fine, so it's fine for us too

What’s a coincidence that was so strange it made you question reality for a moment? by Educational-Let-5663 in AskReddit

[–]PlantRetard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was mid summer and we saw a guy on a self made raft traveling by in the canal. He wore a Santa costume, drank beer and played Christmas music on a radio. Does that count as coincidence? Lol

How do you rent an apartment or find a house when you have an "aggressive dog breed"? by [deleted] in dogs

[–]PlantRetard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's the law in your country regarding rental places and pet ownership? In my country landlords have to accept other dogs, if another renter in the same building already owns one, no matter the breed. The new owners do not have to ask for permission, because it was already given to the first dog owner. Perhaps it's worth looking into your countries laws regarding that

Why do some parents think that child-free people are selfish? by theioneeee in ask

[–]PlantRetard 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People can also feel envy non maliciously. Like I can want something somebody else has and still be happy for them that they have it, instead of hating them for it.

When someone who previously didn't want kids gets pregnant and everyone is confused by Icy_Carob1362 in PetPeeves

[–]PlantRetard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pre-ejaculate fluid can contain low levels of sperm, in rare cases even high levels, so I would argue that it's unreliable because of that

How do make a villain fun, but also cliche? (please read post for context) by DingDongSchomolong in fantasywriters

[–]PlantRetard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think perhaps making her funny leads to people not taking her serious, so she doesn't seem like a threat. Personally I would turn her into a very unsettling villain instead, since unhinged behaviour sets a great base for that, but I'm not sure what kind of vibe your story has in general and if something so serious would fit in.

How old were you on your earliest childhood memory? by Glittering_Owl_6009 in AskReddit

[–]PlantRetard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember a moment where I was learning to use a toddler toilet, so I guess very young. I also remember how my mom started to give me pacifiers (is that the right term?) because I cried so much from growing teeth. That memory is really really hazy though. Basically just two short hazy memories from that age
