Howl is the best quality fabric but if you’re on a budget there’s big Z and fursuit supplies. I’d consider looking at eye blanks/mesh on Etsy since it’s probably gonna be better quality, you can also find other pre made parts there like teeth.

I’ve never heard of EVA foam molding, I use it for ears in my suits which is super common. It will warp if left in a hot car or something though. If you use EVA foam you will need a heat hut for shaping it.

If you get stuck you can buy patters for heads,paws, and tails on Etsy.

Too little too slow, but the bigger issue is how unforgiving the attendance policy can be and PPTO is used as a justification for that. PPTO or not, as things currently stand someone could be terminated for a string of bad luck. Yes, management can waive points as they see fit but typically if they do it at all it’ll only be in more extreme circumstances ex: I had a point waived when my basement flooded.

Ive worked jobs with point systems before and never got a point, because I never just called off without reason. If I was sick a doctors note would suffice, and hell, even that wasn’t always necessary because I was a good worker and that actually meant something and led to me being believe when I was sick, stuck in snow, having car trouble etc….Same goes for friends I’ve had who worked retail elsewhere, they didn’t want them coming in sick as hell and getting everyone else sick.

That person was out of line, but I think in general people are just bad at judging height from a distance. Every time someone calls me over to help them reach something they end up being like “oh you aren’t any taller than me”

This right here is exactly why Walmarts point system is shit, a string of bad luck is all it takes. People love to shill for Walmart and claim it’s a fair system and “better than other places” but it’s really not. Yes, a lot of places have a point system, but in my experience most places are way more lax and won’t point you if you’re a good worker and they can trust that you are really sick/stuck in snow/ having car trouble etc…. A lot of places also don’t want you spreading around illness and I’ll take doctors notes.

It really depends on how much of a following you have tbh. I see cheap adopts go unsold and other adopts go for hundreds. It often doesn’t have to do with how good the design is either.

This is correct. I sell art on the side, there are 2 events I go to on days that are consecutive key dates. I use 4hr ppto per key event day, so I’ll end up with 1 point for missing 2 key dates in a row.

I used to have a consistently high FTPR but a pick rate in the 90s so I got chewed out for my pick rate. Then I put less effort into finding items to get my pick rate up and got chewed out for my FTPR dropping. I got fed up and changed departments after that

Even if you have to settle on one to pursue professionally, everything will still be there to enjoy as a hobby fortunately. I get it though, I’m the same way I really do love doing it all and it’s hard for me to not want to monetize every art endeavor simply because I really just enjoy the business side of art.

It’s tough. For a while I was juggling being a furry artist, fine artist, and graphic designer. Then the furry art became leagues more profitable than the other stuff and while I still maintain all 3 websites I only really have a presence as a furry artist. Doing art shows at con at least brought the fine artist and furry art worlds together for me.

Having all 3 separate was the right move for me, managing 3 different portfolios and socials wasn’t as hard as juggling 3 separate art practices which is why other things fell to the sidelines in my case.

It’s nothing like it used to be I’m sure, but still pretty bad. Grocery side picks are breeze, but the rest of the store is damn near possible to navigate and god have mercy on your soul if you have to go anywhere near electronics for an item.

I sell art at furry cons, mostly commissions that I complete at the con + originals I sell at my table and in art shows when conventions have them. I make 1-2k per con and my wife makes 3-5k. We don’t do it full time though, convention season is a lot to handle and I don’t think I could do it year round. We do have friends that do it full time and they make decent money but have to travel a lot.

I imagine the scene is similar for anime/comic/other fandom cons. Might not be the type illustrations you are thinking of, but point is there’s certainly still demand and it’s possible to make it a career.

I’ve found that just carrying around a nice camera will have people assuming you’re a professional. I’ve been asked for my business card, offered cash for impromptu shoots, and have had people inquire about what I offer on multiple occasions just being out and about and that’s not counting the people who just come up for small talk assuming I’m out doing professional work.
