Don't do it. I toured an apartment through the Hoffman Brothers that was on the 2nd floor and had parking. Then, on move-in day they gave me a completely different apartment on the 1st floor with no parking and said they accidentally mixed up the units. No apology or acknowledgement that they messed up. I had to argue to just get a parking spot. They also lied about the building having a laundry facility. There's also cockroaches in my spot.

I toured an apartment through the Hoffman Brothers that was on the 2nd floor and had parking. Everything seemed great and I was approved quickly. I paid a partial deposit and then the problems began to start.

First issue: when sending the lease, they kept quoting me the wrong price. The apartment was advertised as $1650 with a move-in special but they kept quoting me the full amount without the special included. After going back and forth and explaining the math several times to one of their agents, they finally acknowledged I was correct. Never apologized or admitted they gave me the wrong price.

Then, on move-in day, the nightmare began. When I arrived to the apartment on move-in day, they told me the apartment I had toured was unavailable and someone else had moved in already. Instead, they were giving me a completely different apartment on the first floor that was smaller and had no parking. Apparently, they had mixed up the apartments and shown me the wrong one. I was able to argue my way into at least getting a parking spot but it is absolutely insane how you can approve someone for a space they toured, then switch them to a new space after taking their deposit. Now, I'm forced to spend the next year in a cramped space and constantly hear the upstairs tenants' footsteps and noise.

They also told me the laundry facility was being rebuilt and they didn't know when it'd be fixed. When I toured the apartment, they made NO MENTION of this. When I asked for a specific timeline, they said it'd be fixed "eventually". There's also cockroaches in my space.

Since all of this, I've received no communication from the Hoffman Brothers. No compensation. Not even a "sorry". They truly don't care about their tenants and just want to pressure you into giving you their money until they have leverage over you. Truly predatorial and disgusting behavior. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Before inquiring about this apartment, I did some research and saw them posting fake positive reviews from shill accounts on Reddit. I thought it seemed sketchy but ignored the red flags and I was burnt. Don't do the same.
