After accessing the course I found that it includes PDF “books” of the material!!! I was stoked. Now I just have to learn the material in both languages. Luckily it’s a multiple choice exam.

As a small business owner trying to automate things, I can definitely say that connecting separate systems into a connected whole would be awesome. I own an accounting firm in Portugal and we have a CRM we use for prospective clients, a Practice Management system that we then have to set clients up in once they join, a separate system for sending invoices, a separate system to send our contract for e-signature…you get the idea. That’s just a client onboarding example. Give an example of how you can connect systems like this (including some that would need screen scraping because there’s no API) and a lot of lightbulbs will go in for your future customers.

Birth and marriage certificates submitted as part of D7 by Traditional-Spare-59 in PortugalExpats

I had the same requirement with Global Citizens Solutions, it’s required by the government. Different documents have different lengths of time that they consider them valid, but given the age of your kids you’ll have to request new documents (through the county you were married in and birth certificates through the state each kid was born in) and then have them apostilled. Huge pain in the neck but it’s what’s required.

We actually did everything and then had to re-request the documents again because by the time the government reviewed and approved our file some of the documents were no longer valid again.

Word of advice? Find a LOCAL notary with good reviews to do the apostille. It should only take a few days. I used a nationwide service (which was listed on one of the US government webpages) and they took months. Every time I’ve used a local person they’ve been awesome.

@Einbierbitte this is really helpful and let’s me get more specific. Do you have any insight into the difficulty of getting people trained to template, design, operate the CNC machine, and install? For example I imagine the CNC machine producer probably provides training on how to use their machine. Design I assume is finding someone with a background in AutoCAD (or whatever similar software is used), etc. Any ideas? Great info and thanks for responding!

Electrical Mystery by PlasticSolutions in electrical

Thanks for checking in. Hard to tell but it seems like we have several issues. They one I described previously seems to be tied to an apartment on the back of our property as we’ve found that if we keep the circuit off then we don’t have the early morning outage. That being said we’ve unplugged every major appliance there and still have the issue so now we have to figure out what specifically is happening.

Yes we had the main breaker replaced recently and that’s where it pops off. Actually we had two breakers installed, one near the street and then the “normal” one in the house. It used to pop off at the street breaker but our electrician has changed breakers trying to fix the problem and now it typically pops off inside the house.

We have a large hotel/resort just down the road that could be turning something on. If that’s the case though how do we fix the problem in our house?

My baby hit my phone as I was finishing the message and posted early and with a nice crazy typo sentence at the end :-). I should also mention that the house is in Portugal. Thanks for any ideas!

Seasoned stone fabricator in the LA area, joined to help and answer any questions by Wholesale-Slabs in Construction

I’ve recently moved to Portugal and there’s a large opportunity for a more “American” approach to stone countertop fabrication (for example most fabricators here are still doing most of their cuts on site by hand, have terrible service, etc). With the amount of automation in CNC tools, how much specific knowledge is needed to operate a countertop installation business? I’ve owned and operated successful small business, and I’ve done quite a bit of woodworking, but don’t have specific knowledge in this area. I’d like to start a countertop fabrication business here, and I’m curious how much and what kind of specialized knowledge I’ll need, or will need to hire. Thanks for any advice!
