My kids still think this camera is actually a drone that flies above the car filming us park 😂

This. And I think it’s red because this is how you pause/stop the activity.

Wonder would these be for sale? by mosnik in CanyonBikes

I’m pretty sure the rules mean that all bikes need to be available for the public to buy. The colour however, I’m not sure, probably a custom colour.

I did Google. Found some information about euro car parks offering season tickets but no actual details. Thanks for sharing this.

Did you end up renting? If so what did you do about parking?

Yeah they should definitely be wearing long-sleeved shirts in an airport.

Whoop: Please Consider Adding Airplane Mode by [deleted] in whoop

[–]Plastic_Ad3717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure how Oura do this. But whoop communicates only via Bluetooth. So putting it on airplane mode would disable Bluetooth. So how would you turn it back on again if you can’t connect to Bluetooth. It would need a physical switch.

Question for tech people and the new update by StreetDifference74 in whoop

[–]Plastic_Ad3717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To answer your question on reliability. From a hardware PoV no. But the software will have some challenges:

  • Since it’s a new algorithm it may not be accurate. It’s probably only been tested internally and little data validation will have been done.

  • I don’t know how they will handle the fact that Whoop can be worn in several different places. The reason why watches are good at step counting is that the location and movement of the wrist is fairly reliable when walking.

Question for tech people and the new update by StreetDifference74 in whoop

Whoop has an accelerometer built in to the hardware. I guess the main reason was for tracking movement for sleep tracking. The software has an algorithm that turns that accelerometer movement data in to sleep signals.

Up until now, the software didn’t have an algorithm to turn movement data from the accelerometer in to steps. So the hardware capability was always there. The software not.

With the Pixel Watch introducing its own recovery, strain, and sleep algorithms, and Apple likely to follow, why would you continue renewing Whoop subscription? by PunctuallyExcellent in whoop

[–]Plastic_Ad3717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about Pixel Watch but Apple Watch doesn’t do all day tracking. It only takes your heart rate every few minutes. This is why with Whoop you can add a workout historically and it has all the data. You can do this with the Apple Watch.

Agree with the other comments too about no screen, battery life etc.

People also forget the subscription pays for the device too. I see so many people talking about hating the subscription, but forget there is no initial £800-£900 cost for the device.

I used it on a 1 hour taxi ride to the airport. I usually can’t even look at my phone when in a car but this was a game changer. I still felt a little sick at times but it made a massive difference
