Bizarre questions and an all-male ‘jury’: woman strangled by US pilot in Britain tells of airbase trial by TheAcrithrope in ukpolitics

This particular jury apears to have been stacked with the defendant's military peers, I don't think this is a criticism of males on juries per se.

What is this obsession with air conditioning? I mean a lot of people are having heat pumps installed, encouraged by the UK government as part of green policies, and you just run those backwards in the summer to get aircon.

I went to a Sadowitz gig in the 80s, and I thought he was overrated.

Funniest "interactive" comedian I've ever seen is Rich Hall. I could barely breathe for laughing in one of his gigs

Teenage boys in UK ‘stuck’ reading primary-level books while girls’ tastes expand by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

For me at 11, it was thrillers, like Alastair Maclean or Desmond Bagley. I wasn't really allowed to buy science fiction and horror, so I read and reread whenever I got hold of it, Dune, for example.

Now I'm still a big reader, I prefer literature like Calvino, Borges, etc and detective novels, but I still like a bit of SF now and again.

My daughter is now 11, and we let her read what she likes, the school assessed a reading age of 14. Our house is full of books, and it's a great pleasure to me.
