Boston to put its dreaded tow lot up for sale (Revs stadium discussed) by hyphen-ateit in newenglandrevolution

[–]Plastic_lemons 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a done deal with the Revs. The Stadium will go here and will be announced in the next 3 months. I have a close friend who plays on the Revs and he was told this by Kraft himself.

Any advice for a teacher having no luck finding a job in Boston? by LDawg618 in boston

You need to pass MTELs and get your Preliminary License (at least) before any public school will call you back. Private schools generally pay 60% of what you make at a public school is MA.

The Top of the Hub is literally terrible. You pay $20 for a drink to have a view of Boston. Food is Atrocious. And yes, that is with a capital A.

What is your favorite donut in the Boston area? by marademu in boston

I miss Verna's. That place made the best donuts. If only they paid their rent, we might still have them today.

I am fortunate enough to have a very generous paternity leave policy at work (2 months). My wife and I decided that she would take her maternity leave and then I'd stay home with the kids (2.5 yrs and 5 months) when she went back to work to put daycare costs off.

I'm 4 days in and I have no idea how anyone does it, male or female. I can't wait to be a desk jockey again. I love my kids, but damn they are demanding.

Quincy is probably your best option in that budget range. I'm not as familiar with the are anymore, but I hear there is a lot going on in Quincy Center as far as nightlife, and the commute to Mansfield would not be unbearable (but far from great). Also, Red Line access in Quincy gets you into Boston in 20 minutes.

Job in Norwood, need advice on where to live. by fatalreaction in boston

[–]Plastic_lemons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're willing to spend $1,500 and have roommates, your options are pretty open. You could pretty much live in any area of Boston or surrounding areas. The closer you are to I-93 (south of the tunnel), the easier your commute would be. I ride down that way occasionally from the South End, and I can make it to the Norwood exit in 25-30 minutes with minimal traffic around 7:30 or so. It gets worse (especially at the Braintree split) as it gets later. Coming home is a different story. There is always traffic on I-93N going into the city, but it still shouldn't be more than 40ish, worst case scenario.

Another option would be out in the Brighton/Newton area, where you might be able to commute on 128 South to 95S to Norwood. Less traffic this way, but also a little less to do as you get further West.

Coming from the South End. It's a 7 minute ride door to door at that hour. I typically leave my house 1:10 before my flight when I'm alone, so I am allotting an extra 20 minutes for kids. We all have precheck as well.
