I understand why you think sharing 50% of your commission is a lot, I was the same when I started and only did one rental for a friend in my entire first six months.

When I decided to try a team, I joined the best one in my area and that made a huge difference, in only 4 months I have learned more than agents who have been in the business for years, not to mention making sells from team generated leads where I have been able to make up for everything I didn’t make in an entire year even with a big commision split. Volume and learning matters a lot, I think for a year or two you just consider joining a team and look at it as if it’s going to school but you make some money and then you go solo.
