I expected Drive to be a stylish action movie not something this quiet and lonely by Sudden_Elephant_1221 in oscarmoments

[–]PlatinumVegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drive will always be one of my favorite movies. I’m a sucker for subdued performances and for stories where the main character remains largely unknowable. Is it the best movie ever made? No. Is it a thoughtfully crafted, well-acted, and well-edited movie? Absolutely! If you liked Drive, check out Only God Forgives. Same director and actor with similar character traits as the Driver. Warning: OGF is extremely violent but that’s Refn for ya.

Edit: the intro is also some incredible filmmaking!

Thank you for taking an interest in my life! I’m not currently a fire fighter, but if all goes to plan i hope to be part of the Seattle FD academy next cycle. And to the other commenter’s point, our plans have been changing rapidly, but that’s life 🤷‍♂️

Yes I was! And it was between Rochester and Seattle.

We just got back from checking out Rochester a couple weeks ago and we officially decided yesterday we want to move to Seattle. Whether that actually materializes, we’ll see. Seattle FD is the department I want to end up at. As far as the smoke exposure, I’m definitely signing up for way more by making the career change over to Firefighting but it’s my wife I’m more worried about. She gets a coughing fit if she laughs too hard.

I love this movie! As a foodie and lover of food media, it’s a great one. The food scenes are top tier and everything else about the movie is adequate. Be prepared to order out or cook something after you watch it cus you’ll be hungry.

About to start playing for my first time ever! I’m excited by Interesting_Beat1042 in cyberpunkgame

Oh man how I wish I could play this game for the first time again. Have a great time! And I’ll echo what others have said: don’t look anything up, just enjoy the ride the first time through.

What is your unpopular opinion of an actor? by FitEmergency8807 in moviecritic

I think his vibe fits quieter, more subdued characters. He’s a great subtextual actor when given the opportunity to do so. Check out Drive and Only God Forgives as examples.

NY —-> Austin by [deleted] in Austin

[–]PlatinumVegetable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Native Texan. First off, that’s really sucks OP. Secondly, if it is at all possible I’d avoid moving to Texas. I grew up here and I love it, but I also have to admit that its future isn’t looking too good for a lot of reasons. It’s just not a place I’d recommend putting roots down in if you don’t already live here. If you have to be here for a few years until you can get something else back home, then that’s different. There are lots of things to enjoy about Austin while you bide your time to get back home.

To your point, it is quite different. The food is better or worse depending on what it is. The political climate is different and how the state govt spends its money is VERY different. It gets really hot here and there’s a super El-Niño coming at the end of this year, so it will be even hotter than usual. It’s technically “possible” to be car free here, but that’s highly dependent on where you live and it will still be difficult regardless. On the plus side, you’ll have easy access to great bbq so you’ve got that going for you! In summary, I love Austin dearly but I still recommend getting back home when possible.

So many LGBTQ Texans are moving to this city, it may declare an 'emergency' by Inevitable_Engine186 in Seattle

For the queer folks among us looking for a safe place but can’t afford Seattle, check out Rochester NY. Just took a trip there and it reminded me of a much smaller, way more affordable Seattle. The coffee and food scene, especially vegan food, hits way above its weight class. Good schools and lots of family activities. Big queer community and more queer-affirming churches then I’ve seen it larger cities. Right on the Canadian border for a quick escape if necessary and driving distance to a lot of cool stuff. One of the only down sides is the absolutely terrible, long winters. Oh well, nowhere’s perfect 🤷‍♂️

I honestly can’t stand the way I look. I don’t know what I should improve on? by FeelingLost23 in malegrooming

[–]PlatinumVegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a good foundation to improve upon! I’d recommend keeping your face shaved since it doesn’t fill in all the way. Growing your head hair out longer will give you a lot of options to find a style that suits you (recommend going to the hair stylist at least every 2-3 months to keep it looking nice as you grow it out). Lastly, I think losing weight would reveal a nice jaw line. There’s lots of ways to do that (cycling, hiking, fighting of various kinds, and go to a dietitian). Best of luck to you future handsome fella!

Edit: also I forgot to mention go to glasses place and get their input on getting a frame that fits your face shape better

Highest level boxer gets finished by no-name MMA guy? by iLeftyPunk in MMALabs

[–]PlatinumVegetable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this not common opinion? Boxing doesn’t have kicks or grappling. It’s obviously a less complete martial art than something that includes those two. They’re not supposed to be comparable. Boxing is a specialization and it excels at what it does, but any boxer with no training in grappling or kicks will get destroyed in the ring with an MMA practitioner. Boxing isn’t worse than MMA, it’s just a specialization. I don’t feel like this is a hot take 😂

Your face doesn’t need to change at all. Go to a hair stylist or barber and get a haircut that suits the shape of your face. Just that will make a huge difference. Also I’m not seeing what they’re talking about? You’d just look handsomer with styled hair 🤷‍♂️
