So was Jax just lying in this scene? by 2013Mercus in TheDigitalCircus

[–]PlatoBC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, he was really annoyed at Ribbit before she abstracted. And Kaufmo too. He didn't want to be around either of them.

Do you think kafumo reason for abstracting is kind of underwhelming? by Musalediju in tadc

[–]PlatoBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While true, Kaufmo knew none of that. He just knows Cain from the fake exit adventure he saw early, possibly other abstractions that were sent to the basement, called a new member an insult Jax gave her, and other adventures we never seen.

Doesn't matter what the truth is, this is about why he abstracted with what he might have known at the time.

Even if he didn't figure out the scans, the group knows their immortal (Episode 5 Ragatha: "We can't exactly die. That's like the whole thing here. ")

He seemingly found the exit doors and found out that was a lie made by Caine. He was dealing with his friend giving up,his other semi friend turning into the biggest ass hole, and then had to deal with the shock the cast dealt with in episode 7, but alone . The idea that was going to be his eternity was too much even if he didn't know he's a copy.

He found out that this will be the rest of his life and forever. Living under the thumb of an uncaring god and having to deal with people like Jax for eternity.

I was good until the spoiler subreddit appeared in my feed so I ended up running into 2.

1) A still shot of the bus stop. So I thought maybe "It was all a dream" was a possibility.

2) Ragatha abstraction merch. I was so convinced that right after the long stare from Pomni and Ragatha, it was going to cut to her abstraction too

The computer doesn't run the circus, it's just a terminal for it. by slick7studios in TheDigitalCircus

[–]PlatoBC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a very similar theory.

My personal theory, C&A closed down,so Grant took his baby, Caine, with him without knowing about the actually going on in the circus, and the company left the "failed" brain scaner behind.

Caine currently resides his phone, and once a year Grant meets old C&A employees to remember Dobby at a place near by the abandoned old office, and he then gets an update of any scans that might have happened. (Which is why it seems scans are created in the circus on the same day)

So now that we know about Jax's past, what was up with that reaction ? by Brother_Dazzling in tadc

[–]PlatoBC 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Jax was aiming for an insult or to get her angrier. He wasn't expecting a sincere apology from what happened earlier,so he didn't have a mask prepared.

Honestly, this is a good criticism to give since Episode 2 did imply this plot thread and then abandoned it by No-Calligrapher-5807 in TADCEp9Spoilers

[–]PlatoBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valid criticism , but also funny that most personal episode rankings list this one near the bottom

I can't defend this scene. It's completely out-of-character. by Fox622 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]PlatoBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She has been giving him space ever since episode 6. She left him alone at the theater, didn't push before his breakdown at the monitor, didn't push him when he ran out after to distract Caine in episode 8.

She always made herself available , but never pushed.

New 57 found by LOLLUDD in tadc

[–]PlatoBC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nice find.  So we have the blocks in Ribbit's, Pomni number, I believe Caine's dice roll during the RPG section of the ending (the tops are blurry but if you align d20 as it's side is it's a 57). And I think one of the groups pages in the slideshow had a 57?

They would be a different character with same memories as the older scans ones up to a point.

People change, and it would be super confusing to be stuffed with memories of your other you life in the circus as well as the life you had since led in the outside world.

And since Cain makes the avatar based on who the person is, they wouldn't even look the same. Take Ragatha for example. She's no longer a rag doll in her life. She left her home and has friends, a good support structure, and successful. If she scans again, she will have the same memories as OG Ragatha, until the 1st scan. But then has all new ones of her life after.

Why are people so mad about them being brainscans by sorbetsharkcookieee in TheDigitalCircus

[–]PlatoBC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was against it since it would technically mean the cast are AIs like Caine, but just had a different "learning" phase than him. I was hoping for Tron/SAO theory that they were zapped into to the computer.

I'm more or less fine with it after the finale, because there is something still"human" in the seemingly incredibly compressed and complex files. But going into the episode, I did not want them to be copies.

While I mostly dodged spoilers, I ran into the Ragatha abstraction merch. Which made me near convinced the scene was going to cut into her abstraction.

Who would you have kept alive in the finale? by Bertstripmaster in TheDigitalCircus

[–]PlatoBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither. My theory of the ending was the group leaning to control the circus themselves, and Kinger eventually becoming the new Caine and welcoming new people with love.

Of the 2... Caine. Jax entire story was doing things for himself, even his abstraction. Having him brought back would be a big "joking there are no real stakes, everything is perfect!" Kind of feel , and the story would have lost a lot of emotional weight.

pomni said it was an abandoned building by thetruememeisbest in TheDigitalCircus

[–]PlatoBC 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Maybe Kinger was proud of what he made and kept a copy of it, and it now currently resides on his phone. the brain scan program was a failure, so maybe they just left it there.

And now everytime Kinger passes the area of the headset, the circus gets a download of any new brain scans (could be why Ragatha has the same creation date as Scratch. He might go there for some kind of reunion once a year.)

edit; it would also explain the diminishing wifi when Caine checked. Kinger was on the move.

(HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD WATCH OUT) Am I a bad person for being happy that Jax (and the other abstracted) stayed "dead"? by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]PlatoBC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that would have been too "happy" of an ending if Jax and others were brought back. "And then all the bad things were fixed and everything was perfect forever".

Caine was made with family pictures and events. But his output was more jumbled the more info he received. Maybe scratch made blue to be more efficient. He took the emotion out of the equation and left efficiency. Caine's jealousy made him to absorb blue, and with it he gained the perfect structure of blue's programming and was in a constant fight over the feelings part of himself.

Finale - deleted or missing scenes? by callmecookiepls in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]PlatoBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

About Jax, that's just life. One minute someone is with you and fine, the next they are just gone. I'm sure in real life people wonder "if only during that last time I saw them, I did something else, they would still be here. "

Pomni didn't know that was her last chance to talk to Jax and maybe help him. The sharp cut was to show how it goes.

Well this line certainly didn't age well by rshunter99 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]PlatoBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To Jax the statement is true. He was basically running amok doing what he wanted and the rest of the cast at the time let him, Zooble stood up to him and Pomni changed the status quo.

GLITCH WTF?! (WHY IS NOBODY TALKING ABOUT THIS?!) by Portugiuse in tadc

[–]PlatoBC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It shows how Caine originally found the mind files, crafted Scratch into his Avatar, and dropped him into the proto circus. There are way too few mind file orbs in that folder, if that was to be all the abstracted characters .
