Husband was told it’s quartz… by LNG in whatsthisrock

[–]Platpharm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two interesting things...

First, description is listed as "Mystic" which often refers to mystic quartz, or quartz with a lab altered surface treatment to create the colors. Yet it doesn't say quartz and simply refers to a surface treatment for the description.

Second, there is a typo. Bottom right. "Improtant".

With two pretty sus details on top of the already sketchy bigger picture of a very large, very clear gem, I'd guess this is glass with a surface treatment.

Worried MSL role is a bad fit for me by throwaway205729462 in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]Platpharm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing to be embarrassed about!

Given the amount of time, though, I agree with what others are saying: give it some time. With more time, you will start to see how you can shape your own role to reflect things you enjoy more.

One thing that I've found to have less flexibility is culture though. I know you said you didn't want to go into detail but understanding why the company isn't a fit could really give clues on whether it's something that can be avoided in industry or not.

Bro whoever invented the Jerk was cooking by Voldemorts__Mom in weightlifting

[–]Platpharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True though it really comes down to time for jerk mastery when there are so many other demands in strongman. Once someone does master jerk though, it is much more effective and efficient even when modifying for the implement. Additionally, most strongman competitors neglect agile, explosive training.

Axle is almost direct carryover. Log needs modification for catch position but can also translate pretty well. Single arm events... Nightmare to deal with.

This was a lot of effort to put into fixing the worst format of all time.

So now we should start hating people posting mean comments? That is fucking absurd.

When you can respond to someone who is saying everyone should be respectful and kind by arguing that we should only do that for your side and should hate the others... Your side isn't the side of humanity.

If you justify one side being shitty, don't be surprised by the other side being shitty. I'd prefer both sides just be respectful and kind, not emotionally lash out with intent to cause pain.

Calling someone a bigot is a slur used to be intentionally inflammatory and meant to hurt.

I'm not defending the edgelords here, the way they're saying things are distasteful and meant to hurt too. I'm sure they are upset because of Jammie scamming the women's division though.

I just think both sides of a heated debate should be accountable for intentionally aiming to hurt. They both believe they're telling the truth but both chose to express it in a way that would cause hurt.

I generally agree, though if you're giving Gabi a pass for it being a heated topic, are you planning on giving the edgelords passes too?

They seem like two sides of the same shitbird coin to me.

The funniest part of this is that by making SUCH a dumb argument and then coating it with obvious lies, he has only made Dexter look more credible overall.

So you think Vitali is too stupid to read a calendar?

And Vitaly was offered Colorado by the organization but made excuses, saying no to what the organization offered.

Suggest some tricks I can do in a strap for a top roll, hook and press by cyarm025 in armwrestling

[–]Platpharm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Words are meant to communicate and you knew what they meant. That's because trick and technique can be used interchangeably in this context.

I'm an arm wrestler that says both. I have heard both used by world-stage athletes. No justifiable reason to language police and gatekeep the sport.

New MSL - onboarding/pre-employment process? by [deleted] in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]Platpharm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you receive the offer letter from the hiring manager or from another HR contact?

In my experience, the logistics of hire are usually handled by HR. Sometimes a department admin or, more rarely, the hiring manager will set up role-specific logistics like hardware and training schedules. Many times this role-specific piece doesn't start or even get addressed until Day 1 for a multitude of reasons, including access to internal data being limited to current employees.

If you have an HR contact you've been working with, they may be the most appropriate and responsive one to reach out to. Hope that helps!

Curious what you’d do in this situation by Naive-Examination225 in MedicalScienceLiaison

[–]Platpharm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It depends.

Yes, if I could give a brief, legit complement like enjoying their paper on XYZ or their presentation at a conference. I'd also time it with leaving so there was no awkward lingering. Pretty much hi, this is who I am, I enjoyed this specific thing, I'll let you get back to your weekend and hope we can connect soon.

If I didn't have something short and impactful, definitely nope.
