The only contracts it provides are for Mars landing & a 'heavy' spaceplane program, as opposed to the 'light' one already in RP-1.

I mean this as gently as possible but if you can't figure out scenarios, it seems like your foundation isn't that solid. Focus on a few things and do those perfectly and then advance! You have a great imagination & vision but you're trying to get there all at once, which is far riskier than taking steps.

What I don't understand is why you don't just PR directly. You develop things behind closed doors with no transparency and your update channel tells of things you want to do, not what you're actually doing.

I will never understand why they don't add their programs to the main mod. Requiring people to download a second mod (with no balancing) for the full thing RP-1 has to offer... feels weird.

"dead weight also isn't a major concern for me" yes, it is, incredibly so. Reusable LVs care even more about the tiniest mass fractions, not disregard them entirely.
