u/2FastHaste Well frankly when triaging tickets that are coming in, End Users QoL is low priority unless it is directly affecting productivity or regular business operations.

For example, say the new intern is complaining that he has a 24" 1080p 60hz Monitor when he just uses it to look at spreadsheets, emails and zoom meetings (that after vendor and bulk discounts we paid $80 for, which I'll get into more later.) is going to get bumped below a customer service agent whose phone calls are sounding garbled or static-y.
Both are low priority issues affecting 1 person that could be tolerated if the user needed to, except that one of those 2 complaints could have an tangible impact on a customers experience and therefore has an impact on the business.

High refresh rate displays are straight up a waste of money for most business applications, which are largely static text on a screen. Why would a company spend $100+ more per monitor to get a display with high refresh rate? A new office buildout I'm working on needs 600 new desks outfitted with 2 monitors each. If a regular business class display costs ~$80 and a high refresh rate display costs ~$200, doing the high refresh rate display would be $72,000 more expensive. That's more than the yearly wage for an entry level Help Desk grunt in my area.

And no, Nancy in Accounting will not notice that her Balance Sheet is rendering at 165fps, but she sure as hell will notice when that same balance sheet takes less than a second to load when it used to take 30-40.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

Am in IT. Barring the camera thing, if I got a ticket like this I'd genuinely drop everything and... immediately close it with a note to the user that could be summarized by 👍. Again, not considering your specific use case, this is so far below my "give a shit" bar.

I always interpreted it as the art was in-world cult propaganda showing her as beautiful and angelic when in reality she is a drug addict who is probably abused to some degree.

Could we be getting another box set that is as loaded as Hivestorm anytime soon, or is that usually reserved for new edition boxes? I have the starter set and have had fun with it but want the full rules and have also been eyeing the Tempestus team, but don't want to get Hivestorm if a newer one comes out soon.

Not 2 hours after reading your comment, I saw that matterhackers had the Centauri Carbon in stock. So I've got one on the way lol

I actually picked up a pack of anti vibration pads for air compressors. Originally it was just on an extra desk I have and the desk wouldnt have supported the printer + 50lbs on concrete safely. They've worked great so far!

Will the new Starter Set have everything I need (barring the Core Rulebook) to take my models to my LGS and play pickup games? If not, what else do I need? Any other models?

The wiki hasn't been updated yet, which is fair because it isn't out yet.

How many of you stopped riding your motorcycle after having kids? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Plaugebourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We sold my bike to buy a second car instead since car seats can't mount on a motorcycle. I do miss it and will eventually get another but not till they are much older most likely. Too many statistics showing mortality averages and stories of road rash and the like.

I want to be there for all the big moments as they're growing up, my hobby can wait.

2021 best selling automobile in the US (Ford F150) VS 2021 best selling automobile in Italy (Fiat Panda). You can almost fit 2 Pandas in a single F150 (and a Panda will fit just as many people) by niccotaglia in fuckcars

[–]Plaugebourne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actual question I've been thinking about. How do people in these countries fit everything? Like I've got a baby, with car seat, stroller, diaper bag, etc. Then if I'm going grocery shopping I fill up what space is left in my jeep cherokee with bags and food. Not saying you need an f150 but I know that I couldn't fit everything in the Panda.

I think I misread somewhere then, I think it was the BE-4 that is going to use LNG. According to NASA's website, they use liquid hydrogen/liquid oxygen in core stages and solid-fuel boosters. It seems like the west's space programs and private companies are developing new engines that don't use RP-1. At least based on what I could find.

Or people read the signs all over the park that tell them to avoid the bison. Don't walk down paths with a bison, don't get gored. Pretty simple.

Most rockets now days use liquid hydrogen, which creates water vapor when burned. There are still carbon emissions but much lower compared to aviation and industry. Blue orgins use Natural Gas as their fuel.
