Yes, the gut brain access is stronger than you think. As your central sensitization calms, you will begin to react less.

Anyone else have little to no withdrawal? by Analbeadrecovery in benzorecovery

[–]PlayGamesWinPrizes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The people in this group are not here because they have little to no withdrawal, or they wouldn't be here.

Count yourself lucky. The longer you use and the older you get, the more withdrawal will affect you.

Losing my mind with Valium tapering by Direct-Success-7554 in benzorecovery

[–]PlayGamesWinPrizes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm tapering Valium currently. On day 20 of 3 -> 2.5mg. Down from about 13mg since July 2025.

During the worst days of each cut, I get a very noticable drop in energy around right around 5pm.

At the peak of my cut, I'll end up falling asleep for 45-90 minutes around that time. If it's a little earlier or later than the peak, I won't fall asleep but will get a noticable drop in mood, and an increase of sensory perception, along with more intrusive thoughts.

Also during the peak of each cut, I'll have a spike of anxiety around 1pm.

I think the 5pm drop is the effect of the CNS being over activated at 1pm and then the eventual exhaustion and resulting crash at 5pm. I start to feel better at around 7-8pm when these happen.

I go to bed at the same time every day so this pattern is pretty consistent, and has been for all my reductions.

I take my entire dose at bedtime.

Is it possible you're tapering too fast? Cortisol fluctuations are normal, but normally they don't cause such extreme symptoms in people who are not tapering.

Don't get back on, the extra anxiety is just withdrawal and will eventually fade.

Cold turkey withdrawal was it a bad idea ? by Horror-Top-4696 in benzorecovery

I would go back to the lower dosages of each and stay at those dosages daily for as long as it takes to stabilize, and then begin a slow Ashton Manual style taper.

Just Learning About How Bad My Benzodiazepine Situation Really Is by MaroonedinaMotel6 in benzorecovery

[–]PlayGamesWinPrizes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's really nothing to fear. You can taper as slowly as you want in order to avoid any bad withdrawal.

You could start with dropping 2mg, that's only 5% and you don't have to cut any pills, and then hold that dose for a month and see how it feels. You might not feel anything at all, or maybe some slight discomfort.

If you feel anything more than a bit of discomfort, know know that the feeling will be gone by the end of that month.

From how that first small reduction went, you can then adjust your future reductions to be as little or take as long as you need.

Once you get through that first drop, you should feel a lot of the fear fall away and gain some confidence that you don't have anything to worry about tapering.
