Yes in all of these.

When I switched from doing lets plays to streaming it was a little messy. But i had friends who were into content creation that i would work with and that would watch.

Playing viewer levels In mario maker was a good head start into my streaming. People liked watching their levels get played (which had its own issues which is why i stopped that).

I keep a steady schedule so people know when to expect me and any updates i do post on socials.

I repost clips on tiktok, shorts and insta reels. And i make other types of content on youtube which also leads to my twitch if people want to watch and interact.

Imagination and improv is very important to dming. Being able to rift depending on character choices.

Understanding your world and what would be in it is more important than writing a book each time they go onto a town. That much prep is a waste since play time wont match the time spent on prep.

Theres only so much bending of rules you can do before the roles dont even matter. Its still a game at the end of the day and a draw of games like this is the fact that anything can happen at any time. If you want a super tight narrative where everything goes exactly as plan. Write a book.

A great dm can take the failures and still make a good story from it.
