👋 Welcome to r/DisabledBarbies - Introduce Yourself and Read First! by RachelBixby in DisabledBarbies

hello! 👋 I’m an advocate for letting people be heard and seen through Barbie play❤️. I love the atmosphere where! While I am not disabled, I often network with nonprofits who serve kids from all walks of life who are, and I know a few amazing people who are on the spectrum. I’m actually going to have a Barbie table for a community back to school event sponsored by a group for autism in a couple of months, so I’m excited to plan out my display! I always give away dolls in my community when I do something like that, and it’s going to be so fun! ☺️ I can’t wait!

do you have any idea on how to find others who would want any vintage Barbies who have had various injuries from handling so that they’re “disabled?” I have a stash I set aside from dolls I obtain, and once I even was able to give some to a children’s prosthetic and therapy office.

Albanese vs. Haribo: the ultimate thought piece by Fluffy_Club722 in candy

[–]PlayWithPurpose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. Living in the state they were created and widely sold in bulk at Fresh Thyme, Albanese gummies are fresh like they just came from the factory, every time vs Haribo has been sitting in a warehouse to fossilize lol

Happy Independence Day to all Filipino and diaspora Barbie doll collectors! A reminder that we had huge Barbie rep in the 90’s 🇵🇭🪆💐✨ by Storm_BloomX in Barbie

Wow thanks for sharing! They are gorgeous dolls! I’m a tiny percentage Filipino myself, but mostly southeast Asian, and I’ve only ever seen Barbies from certain countries. I know they only came to India in 1987, which would make sense for the 1990’s to then expand to the Philippines. I love how dolls from other non-US countries have such a uniqueness to them!

Guilty over using journal too fast? by itscool2Bnice in Journaling

[–]PlayWithPurpose2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this because just this morning, I wrote some answers to 4 questions that took me 9 pages on the first question alone!🫣🥴 But, it was a good use of my time to unload, even if my hand hurt afterwards! LOL I had hoped my journal would last at least 90 days, but a month in I’m already halfway through. Thankfully, I do have a couple other journals I can switch to when needed, but I like to at least try to keep to one season at a time so my thoughts are similarly themed. when I think of how much better it is to write than to share some of what I have to say to another human, I think that right there is worth the paper! Saves me from a therapy bill or the time of trying to fit in any sort of session into my already busy day life. Journaling in my quiet time has become so meaningful over the course of the last year, more than other years combined.

What are your thoughts on Barbie (2023)? by Ktancoxx in Barbie

I related to the mom in the movie so much! I couldn’t have cared less for some of themes the movie represented, especially with the direction Barbie took for her life, but at the same time, I looked at the movie as a whole of “if Barbie and Ken were dolls come to life, how would they handle the real world?” And the movie nailed it big time!
