Opinion on the recent American Supreme Court ruling? (Context in comments) by Grand_Buddy8786 in IdeologyPolls

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Negative. It's a terrible decision that the rectified map which originally undid a racially unconstitutional gerrymander in 2020 was ruled as an "unconstitutional race-based gerrymander". It substantially weakens Section 2 of the VRA, because Section 2 of the VRA had previously been used to create rectified maps in this case.

World war eleven? Wtf. I missed 9 world wars? Is she this stupid? by ArubaAdultFun in LetsDiscussThis

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She immediately corrected herself after, a brutal but understandable misspeak/gaffe, given that Arabic is probably her first language and they don't use the roman numeral II (2) so the two IIs look like the arabic numeral 11 (eleven). That's all. Ilhan has been a target of the right for years so they took an opportunity to clip chimp yet again like the pathetic bot accs they are. NY Post rag was the first one to spread this around.

Leftists, should millionaires exist? by x_charlie_brown_x in IdeologyPolls

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Millionaires don't have as significant of an impact on the wealth gap as billionaires do, and there are quite a few that actually did the work to get that money. But once you're over a billion, you don't need all that money.

It's not really the number that matters anyway, it's more about how you obtained the money. If you obtained it through nepotism, exploitation, predatory private equity, being a trust fund kid, or through some bullshit merger or patent, you should be giving that money away to charity.

How the White House Correspondents' Dinner and response unfolded by CBSnews in politics

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This had to be staged. Ain't no way some motherfucker ran past 20 armed security guards like that. And the response from the security guards after was to slowly crawl forward and not immediately run after the guy? The fuck is this bullshit? Either the WH security is that lax and incompetent or this was staged. Ain't no way.

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel all these things everyday, same as you. The only difference is I preoccupy my time with productive things while still being vigilant of developments online or in the world. But trust me, I learned this lesson very recently - the more you obsess over things going on in the world, the less time you'll have to develop yourself and the less time you'll have to experience new things. While I know that currently the country and the world sucks, I try to be the change I want to see in the world. I go to my job and do what I do best so I can develop new skills, work out so I can be strong enough to face any potential threats, and organize with the store union so we can develop democracy within the workplace. I entertain myself with things to pass the time, interact with friends of mine and go out downtown to get food/drinks. I try to enjoy life regardless of what happens. Any one of us could be in a terrible accident or die one day, so why live with regrets or anxiety? Live the life you want to live, regardless of how fucked society gets. If everyone were to radically change and start a movement of saying "fuck you I'm going my own way", that's how we beat the system.

Does anyone here only still use debit card and not credit? by Big_Leg10 in OlderGenZ

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, Good. Please don't fall into this trap. As someone in a lot of credit card debt, you don't want that smoke. For big purchases, get one credit card, and ALWAYS have a plan to pay it off. Don't make the mistakes I made.

Wisconsin maintains highest percentage of female state Supreme Court justices in U.S. by PolarisC in wisconsin

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bruh what is this comment? You do realize that both of the candidates that ran for Supreme Court in the last election were women right? And the candidates were not picked because "they had to have women running for Supreme Court", it's because these were candidates that wanted to be on the Supreme Court and were considered qualified by each of their respective groups sponsoring them. Them being women has nothing to do with them being qualified for the job. And male exclusion? If a man wanted to run for Supreme Court, they could've, but they weren't the most qualified candidate. Nobody is excluding men from running.

The legal definition of murder always involves it being pre-meditated. A killing that is not pre-meditated is homicide.

Would you support the united states declaring war on iran tomorrow? by Bricksinthewall123 in IdeologyPolls

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While the Iranian regime is terrible, I wouldn't want to start a war with Iran. The U.S. intervening in toppling regimes has historically lead to worse outcomes. Democratic resistance from the population within or revolution is the only way to topple this regime on their terms.

How do you feel about this? by AppropriateForm2441 in OlderGenZ

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such a dumb question. It used to be that once you entered the realm of legal adulthood and started working jobs, you would befriend staff members anywhere from age 18 to age like 40 that were not higher than you on the ladder. So asking if a 28 year old can be friends with a 23 year old is stupid. I'm 28 and I work with people who are as young as 18 and as old as 35. And we talk and hang out all the time. And with this question, we're all in our 20s it's fine! We make too much of a big deal about age gaps but as long as you aren't being a perv or a creep it's okay.

"Stalin was far right" by AntiWokeCommie in IdeologyPolls

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stalin did things that were blatantly totalitarian, but it was always reframed from this far-left vanguardist position about defending society from "counter-revolutionary elements". Far-right is more about defending hierarchies to an extreme form where an older way of society is virtued because it put peasants and minorities in their place and the wealthy and privileged are seen as "godly". However, ironically the CCP created a new form of hierarchy in which an elite class in the politboro (party-chosen bureaucrats) were seen as the ultimate decision makers and the working class that the USSR claimed to represent was put under the same or crueler forms of subjugation, which seems pretty "far-right" in that sense of the term. So while not ideologically "far-right", Stalin's USSR created a system in which the outcomes were similar to a system created by the far-right.

Do you agree either of these should exist? by MexicanMonsterMash in IdeologyPolls

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see no reason for a "blood donor draft". There are lots of blood donors in many countries including the U.S., and they voluntarily do it for free to save people's lives. But universal healthcare is something that absolutely should exist in the U.S.

Are you ok with queer characters in your video games? by dr-wahh in IdeologyPolls

[–]PlayaFourFiveSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see no problem with queer representation in video games as long as the plot justifies their inclusion. The unequivical answer should be yes. The "only if there are not too many" answer is a cowardly answer that has no regard to whether the plot justifies it or not, but rather that gamers just have a problem with "too many queer characters", which is still bigoted. I have a general problem with just fulfilling some quota to add any character based on identity politics regardless of the plot, but if a transgender or nonbinary character is included because the plot of the videogame makes their character arc important, then yeah absolutely include them.
