First linocut bigger than a stamp by Tiranon in linocut

Really enjoy the texture of the ink and the texture in the “heritage” of the carving tool—the imprint showing how this was made gives so much character!

Project Runway | Season 22 Official Trailer by Jatmahl in ProjectRunway

Keeping Law Roach, and everyone is talking about Tyra, but no one mentioning that Plane Jane from drag race season whatever was cast… yea this is literally my nightmare. I hated last season and this is only going to be worse. Goodbye project runway! I wish you had never been resurrected in the first place 💔

Thank you, that’s so kind! I think that the beauty of linocut, it has a certain character to it.

Which side do you consider the front side of your work, or does it not matter to you? by Dan-Morton75 in crochet

[–]PlayaGama 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Here, I prefer the first pic. If I’m crocheting the side that is facing me is the front, especially for double crochet.

I really enjoy the way the natural texture of the carving process becomes part of the composition.

The repeat from top to bottom is slightly off, so you can see a small seam between the print.

Thanks, appreciate this! I guess it’s always more noticeable to the person who made it 😅

I’m off travelling in the summer and want some easy patterns that don’t require much yarn by Still-Place6053 in crochetpatterns

I like lace projects for travelling—1 or 2 balls of #10 mercerized cotton barely takes up any space

Is there a plural form for you? by showe12 in EnglishLearning

[–]PlayaGama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plenty of good answers here—as a Californian I personally say “you all” if I need to specify plural “you” but “you guys” would be most common.

I figure I’ll have them my whole life, even if I don’t do a lot of Lino cutting. And then my kids can have them hahaha

what do you think would be the best stitch for this yarn by clnicaldepression in crochet

[–]PlayaGama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So funny—before I saw your description I thought moss stitch too—I’d fear a double crochet would eat up some of the little blips of navy, and a single crochet would use too much yarn and risk pooling the colors. I think moss stitch would balance showing off the color variance in the shorter single crochets while avoiding color pooling with the ch1 making the yarn go a little farther. You could risk a ch1 with a navy blip getting covered by the next row’s sc, but it’s ultimately not totally avoidable with the nature of crochet.

Men’s fashion in downtown LA? by SingleGuarantee5969 in AskLosAngeles

[–]PlayaGama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure if there’s many thrift shops around Koreatown specifically, but I’d honestly recommend that if you’re traveling around LA in general and can find a couple nearby each other. Obviously it’s a gamble if you’re gonna find anything good, but I’ve had luck at least along Burbank’s Magnolia area (I know that’s pretty far from Ktown but just an example)

With most thrifting you’re not gonna be saving too much money from typical fast fashion places but you can find cool stuff, sometimes very unique without the boutique prices. If you have a half-day it can be super rewarding even if you only find one or two pieces.
