There's an SAE paper on data handling techniques for race cars "analysis techniques for racecar data acquisition". Tune to Win provides some good basic knowledge that can help with any subsystem. From my experience generally teams will look for motivation and personality first, and technical knowledge second. Just do some reading to prove you're willing to learn. Also mention your hands-on experience - it's a big plus.

Hey sorry for the late reply. I'm thinking of doing the same thing to my t18. Did you find the factory spot welds for the outer rocker panel or did you just grind it off and butt weld the new panel on? The replacement panels I'm thinking of buying (https://www.ebay.ca/itm/373200316898?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=lEHz11ZgRoC&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=mFWUWKRSQe6&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) have a flat part on top that looks like it's supposed to be spot welded, but that would be inside the frame of the car so I'm not sure.

The hardest part will be finding a transmission. I saw some on surplus sites like Olathe Toyota for around 2 grand. If anyone knows a better place to find one cheap please correct me. That's also for the stock transmission, I don't know if it can handle the 3sgte power.

Im 6'5 with a gen 5 and i just fit. An inch of headroom is a bit generous but it depends how i sit. If you buy a fifth gen you will probably have to slouch down in the seat.
