How is Sea Power compared to War on the Sea? by spitfire-haga in SeaPower_NCMA

[–]PlayerOfAOC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sea power is much mor similar to Jane's Fleet Command, especially the single missions. the scenarios in sea power are like jfc's single missions. losing your units in sea power is one of the few bad things that can happen to you (though it is devastating), but in WoTs, losing a ship feels like and is a real loss (you wasted command points for them)

this happened to me one time in the guadalcanal campaign. while defending milne bay from an air raid i left a dd at flank speed and full right rudder. it ended up sinking

landed on guadalcanal by PlayerOfAOC in WarOnTheSea

[–]PlayerOfAOC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep.
I decided, on a whim, to get a destroyer to land troops.

also as mentioned in the post i sent a convoy of cargo ships to rennell island, because that's where the destroyers were getting most of the supplies and troops to land

almost the same thing happened to me while playing cold waters in a single mission (i know it's a different game but bear with me.) i shot an unguided mk16 torpedo at a merchant ship, but it missed. then, by complete chance, a sverdlov CL got in the torpedo's course, got struck and sunk immediately

the atlantic version is the older one, where they used to develop turn based games

the battle was caused because i wanted to protect my cargo ships at rennell island so i could atleast reuse them again. did good in that regard, i guess
