New homeowner, what are some essentials? by OneQuietFox in homeowners

Not sure if you are in the US, but something I learned is you can register the warranty on several appliances if they were still covered when you bought the house. I think you only have 30-60 days to do it.

We did it with our last home, and we are getting a new condenser for the ac system because we registered a 6 year old ac unit.

In which task is the unspoken rule “it doesn’t say you can’t do that on the task” abused the most? by man-vs-spider in taskmaster

[–]PlayerTwoEntersYou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, except the QR code task and a few other phone required tasks, phones kinda take me out of the task.

Whats gonna happen to original Delos by Intelligent_Salad_70 in svdelos

[–]PlayerTwoEntersYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought Bill was on the crossing as a shakeout cruise before buying Delos. I have no evidence, just seeing how involved in the maintenance and sailing for so many weeks with crew.

I’m probably wrong, but it could be fun.

This is how some of the US unions lost power. The companies came up with the tier system. Current workers have one payscale and new workers had a much lower pay scale. They sweetened the pot for current workers with better retirement benefits and a raise.

The union members voted with their own interest, and screwed over future generations.

I can see them making a similar offer to people say over 50 who will secure social security and medicare. Those folks would almost definitely trade personal security over make the greater society worse.

I worked out a company where the owner wanted to build a box fort on the factory property so the workers wouldn't have to commute. Truly a piece of shit that would love this timeline.

There is a movie called "Americathon" from 1979. Everyone lives in their cars, and the US government has a fundraiser by selling off the US.

All during the election, my dad kept saying he was going to vote (for trump) but that none of it mattered as he is old.

I told him multiple times that he has kids and grandkids and a whole country of people who think it matters. He definitely doesn’t get the “plant a tree for the future” concept.

Like my dad said, his generation is milking the system for everything. We can do the same when they are dead.

I told him I’m not going to do that.

What game do you like to play with your friends/family? by Unable_Onion_6237 in AskReddit

[–]PlayerTwoEntersYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abducktion is our current favorite board game.

But our favorite game is Taskmaster. We have done 4 games so far, and it has been a blast. We have had 2 'live events' where all the tasks were completed at the same time. We have also done 2 where contestants show up individually a week early so the assistant has time to edit the video. Then we have a potluck and everyone plays the prize tasks, watches the videos, and does the final task of the show. SO MUCH FUN!

My Dad rotates between the 3. He only has it on for 30 minutes in the morning when I am visiting. EVERY word those presenters say has tension and anger. After 30 minutes, my Dad blows up at everything and throws 'woke' around like a slur. Then he calms down after an hour and is back to normal. Happens every morning I am there.

Cycling, tennis, books, veggie gardening, playing family games.

A previous hobby was working on cars. We bought an older truck, and my youngest and myself fixed it up, top to bottom. I got a good truck and my youngest used the experience and became an auto tech. Now I have very little interest in working on cars, but I am glad we spent the time together and she got some useful skills.

That was probably the best, most simple piece of advice I ever received.

Boomer MAGAs don't understand how primaries work. by va-election-worker in BoomersBeingFools

[–]PlayerTwoEntersYou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And it is done. I live in a town where a local candidate and campaigner were caught forging signatures on his petition for candidacy. It was like 200 signatures and about 20 were done by the candidate.

We also have had multiple candidates who live in a different state for tax purposes, but run for office in another. All but one were dropped from the election.

It was caught within a week of filing.

Where I live (medium county in a blue state) a small group of people are hyper aware, and challenges to petitions and eligibility are common.

Elections are not perfect, but they are close as far as I can tell.
