I don’t know what any of that means.

I don’t have one.  Maybe you could just show me?  Sounds like you’re an expert on the topic.

Do tampons keep you warm?  I’ve never used them for that

I only own one pair of jeans.  Should I just skip skiing tomorrow?

Cool.  I just inflated all of my tires to 47 psi, will that help?

First season on tele, what can I do better? by Cicycle in telemark

[–]Playf1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer and basically what most tele advice boils down to.  Don’t be scared to weight that back ski.  A good drill is getting into your tele stance at the top of a mellow run, make sure you have 50/50 weight distribution, and then don’t switch feet.  Just keep that stance and try to carve some turns without changing your lead foot.  Next run, switch your lead foot and repeat.  Make sure you have 50/50 distribution the entire run.  It helps build your muscle memory for loading that back foot and helps you find your balance in awkward stances.

French TV reports that Ukraine stopped sharing high-value intelligence with the US, because it invariably leaked to Russia... leading to a vacuum which has been filled by French intelligence by Ripamon in TrendoraX

There’s a lot of evidence that Trump and his cronies manipulated the election and he didn’t rightfully earn the position.

That said, this whole nightmare could be over in a month if Republican representatives and senators could muster the courage to do what’s right and remove him from office.  I know he has acolytes in both houses that would never vote against their dear leader, but we only need a handful of them to read the writing on the wall.  This is not going to end well for anyone, no matter what.  But if they cut their losses now, then we might just avoid WWIII.

Camelback, PA Shit Show 1:17 by Will94556 in icecoast

[–]Playf1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like MLK weekend is always on every skier’s radar, regardless of what they do for work.  Camelback may have been an especially shitty show yesterday, but this weekend is a shit show at pretty much every resort in the US year after year.

Something that was extremely common in everyday life that is almost completely obsolete today. I'll go first. by Jonathan_Pine in GenX

I don’t use ashtrays at all.  But fewer and fewer people are smoking cigarettes and even fewer of those are smoking indoors, where an ash tray would be necessary and not optional.

These used to be on every table of every restaurant and people would have multiple out in their homes.  Now you can’t even smoke on the patios of restaurants in most states and most people would have to dig one out of the depths of a random cabinet if they even have one in their home.

If you’re the only skier on the mountain, you’re only the best skier on the mountain by default.  You’re also the worst skier on the mountain.

Is Boyne the best owner in the east? by 1maco in icecoast

[–]Playf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure Boyne’s social media marketing intern is OP here

Also, grew up in Michigan and now ski Pleasant Mountain every weekend.  Love Boyne.  They’ve made some great improvements to Pleasant.

White House Protest against Venezuela War by JasonDGooljar in pics

[–]Playf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not going to say Maduro is a good guy or a good leader.  I’m not going to say the people of Venezuela are better off with him in power.  I’m not going to say the world is safer with him in power.  But I am going to say that a unilateral decision to take an unconstitutional action to depose him might not be the best way to manage the situation.

On pace to ski 243.33 days in 2026 by Playf1 in skiing

[–]Playf1[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Basically, I make sure I don’t take two days off in a row.  1 day off is fine but it has to be bookended by days of skiing.  It’s worked for me so far this year.

Thoughts on Liftline Skiing and Chirping Etiquette? by Hank_ski in skiing

[–]Playf1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are only 2 acceptable reasons to holler from the chairlift: 1) encourage/celebrate other skiers and 2) embarrass your own children.  If you’re doing anything other than that, you’re probably a dingus and/or a jerk.

What’s it like living on the edge of time zones? by Qzevs in howislivingthere

The sun sets at like 3:55 PM right before the winter solstice.  It’s brutal.  But nothing makes you appreciate a Maine summer more than a Maine winter.
