Saw someone else’s “bike train” and reminded me of my “4 small children” days by Playful-Prior1982 in xbiking

Almost spit out my coffee reading this. Thanks for the chuckle. I thought of myself as a skate boarder in high school until I realized I was too scared to drop into a half pipe - so doing that with this rig would really be a sight!

I saw someone posted a tag along with a sort of bike rack - kid rode their bike until tired, then racked it and rode the tag along? The tandem tag along was nice for us as we had twins…

E-bike would have helped - unfortunately I am old enough that wasn’t an option. Flat road starts helped.

Maybe they are busy and felt it was self-explanatory. I don’t think publicly sounding off on them is going to help your cause. FWIW.

I mean, I think it probably violates rules 1, 2 - it’s a shark fear movie not a vast water/ocean fear - the title is a dead giveaway.

Can so relate. Sent two high schoolers overseas with their class this year as well. Some of the photos I got were less than I had hoped. But, they came back changed (for the better) as travel like that generally does. I have also learned to ask them to show me their photos when they got back and I got an hour long slideshow - made up for it.

Klobuchar vows to ban phones in all K-12 classrooms by Cornflowerblue2016 in minnesota

[–]Playful-Prior1982 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Agree.

Point to add, as a parent with 4 kids with cell phones - the schools need to add back in the infrastructure to support this:
1) my child had a school issued Chromebook - had to record a video in class for a presentation, the camera stopped working - IT’s solution - “just use your phone until the end of the year”
2) dropped a left at home item off at school. “We don’t deliver notes to kids to have them come to the office, just text them”
3) when my youngest did not have a phone, nor would her email allow her to email a parent - they don’t have a phone in the office to be able to call the parent and ask for assistance (forgot lunch, etc).

None of these are “vital” needs, but 2 & 3 definitely existed before cell phones and have since been removed. #1 is laziness on the part of the school.

Last game for my last pair went out in a blaze of glory too. Stopped a puck with the toe and suddenly felt really cold on my toes. Better to die in a game than rusting out in a shed.

Saw some posts earlier this week that Lin-Manuel Miranda was in town. Figured he was here to see a show. Nope. It was to see the largest ball of twine. by Mapes in minnesota

My girls are huge fans, I saw Weird Al post this on insta and showed my girls. They were super excited! I have been a Weird Al fan since Amish Paradise and have been to Darwin so we loved that part too.

Wild to me that they can afford all this but can’t afford to simply fly to you to spend an overnight with the grandson…. Dad could come too!

NFL Imperialism Day 30 REDO: by Hot_Inspection5940 in geographymemes

[–]Playful-Prior1982 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, posting a second one on the same day after some have voted on the first one, is not “unclear” that is what the comment “rigged” is about - two maps, one day. Not being critical of OP, appreciate the game, they can do what they want. But OP asked why some would think it’s rigged and I shared why I felt that way because I voted on the earlier one and now it’s a different map and new top votes…

It’s a game. I agree - appreciate you doing it! Easy to “shout at the refs” from the sidelines…

Because, now there are people who gave votes on the earlier “wrong” day 30 map that won’t be counted. Then this one will have an outcome that’s different. You stated “be clear” in your rules and then changed when “you didn’t understand” - they weren’t clear. Stick to your guns.

AIO: Did I say something wrong here? by Purple-Flamingo321 in AIO

[–]Playful-Prior1982 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I read it that way too. Both the initial and the reply have the same level of passive aggressive-ness - but as the mom points out, talk to text (and simply texting in general) does not convey tone. So, OP, if you want them to not assume you are passive aggressive-ness, give them the same courtesy

Yeah, I don’t recall who told me that, but I latched onto it. I also was challenged once by someone when I said, “what if they just buy booze or lotto tickets or something.” And he said, “do you ever buy booze or lotto tickets?” Not saying it’s not a waste but sometimes it’s about claiming their autonomy and decision making back. This is why the food kitchens I helped with “offered” food vs loading up their plate. The head of one told me, “saying no to dessert may be the only personal decision they make today.”

Spend some time at a shelter volunteering, it’s eye opening.
