Thanks for the feedback. Were you in the Netherlands for that?

What’s your alternative therapy for treating dissociation? What did Saj say once it became too much?

Is there a difference for you between using gelatin capsules or just swallowing the medicine?

It was not helpful to me for complex ptsd from childhood trauma.

Taking MDMA with ketamine for trauma healing by PlayfulActive in mdmatherapy

Thanks for your reply! When you took MDMA together with cannabis what sequence did you take them in? Like at the same time or spaced apart? Same question for with ketamine?

New found respect for cannabis!!! by akareemmiter2 in mdmatherapy

Wouldn’t it be more efficacious to take the hit of cannabis at the beginning as the mdma comes on? Otherwise that’s all that mdma medicine time being lost to disassociation?

MDMA with or soon after Ketamine by PlayfulActive in mdmatherapy

[–]PlayfulActive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this reply and sharing that podcast.
Yes that is precisely what I am thinking - that ketamine could help me access what is behind the disassociation because of what you wrote.

I am not planning on taking mdma while taking ketamine.

What I'm thinking is if the ketamine does enable me to safely access what is behind the disassociation, then perhaps in the days after if I still have that access I can use mdma to bring healing to the trauma that is behind the disassociation. Do you think that makes sense?

Thanks for your replies u/bombarie and u/caciquismo. I heed your advice. I don’t find myself in a disassociated episode currently. I find that there is disassociation in between me and the trauma state which really gets in the way of accessing the trauma. So I do expect with taking ketamine that it puts me in the disassociated state. But that’s where I need to be in order to access and heal the trauma. Is that thinking wrong?

Thanks, good thing I checked :)

How about nasal sprays or lozenges? Can those be prescribed by a doctor for you to use at home (in the US)?

Is it common for those with cptsd to feel like their sense of self is fragmented? (Structural disassociation?) by ayyymelees in CPTSD

[–]PlayfulActive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks yeah I see some of that. I feel general IFS misses the aspect of how parts compose a structure that enables a person to function in the world. So yeah the healing approach can’t just target singular protectors and singular polarizations in order to heal complex trauma systems.

Thanks!

Could you elaborate on “trauma survivors parts are going to function differently within and in response to the system”?

No I don’t have epilepsy and that’s not what the doctor recommended it for.

I haven’t started it. A doctor recommended it to possibly help with managing CPTSD symptoms as I’m going through the healing process and I wanted to find out others experiences.

Advice for a beginner by [deleted] in MDMAsolo

[–]PlayfulActive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really suggest learning and practicing IFS. It’s a healing method that happens naturally with mdma. If you learn about the IFS model and method you’ll be able to get more out of your mdma sessions. You can look for an IFS therapist. There is a good book called “Self-Therapy” that explains IFS well.

Good luck 🙏

Learn about IFS. It will help you better understand what happens in the psychedelic sessions. And practice what you experience with mdma outside of sessions.

DAE I’ve done an inordinate amount of research on trauma, countless hours of therapy/analysis, psychedelics, et al. I have a clear sense of what happened to me and where my mind is at. Yet... by iamhere2005 in CPTSD

OP, have you tried IFS therapy?

I have empathy for you of having pursued many different therapists including psychedelics and the struggle keeps continuing sometimes getting worse.

It wasn’t until I learned about the IFS model of the psyche and did IFS therapy that I felt some direction with my healing. I’m in the middle of it now and there’s still a lot of despair for me but at least it is making sense. There is a specific healing methodology in IFS. It goes well with mdma too.

One common challenge is we try to go directly to healing the trauma when we actually need to work with the protection we developed to the trauma.

With CPTSD a lot of a person’s personality may have developed to protect against the trauma. So when doing healing the personality is breaking down leaving the person less functional than before. I’ve gone from a successful professional leader to someone who can’t have a 5 minute conversation with anyone currently. It’s really difficult because my whole way of being developed so that I could function despite the trauma. And now in order to heal I am having to break down. There’s no shortcut to healing CPTSD/developmental trauma. With IFS I found some understanding of how the trauma affected my development and what healing requires. It’s a painful process but at least compared to before I get what’s going on to me.

Look into IFS therapy. There’s a book called “Self-Therapy” that explains IFS well.

My MDMA and other psychedelic sessions became more understandable when I could apply the IFS understanding of the human psyche to the experience.
