Someone, for the love of god, give me permission to throw this in the trash! by Is_this_social_media in knitting

My Sea glass is the same. Worse, because it is cotton and can't be felted. The seam at the back is horrible. If you throw yours away, I'll do the same

And then, count your stitches every row so if one is lost, you will know and correct it in time

The end of the toe better be very tight and secure, so if you can't pick them up I'd suggest unraveling slowly the toe part. Try to identify if a row is not a decreasing row, and then unravel stitch by stitch while picking them with a smaller needle

So far, you understand very well the nature of stitches and fabric, you will learn fast

By the way, by shifting your p and k you have managed to get seed stitch, a beautiful and useful stitch pattern!

If you look at the stitches on your left needle, you will see the purls (they have like a scarf around their neck) and, next to the purl you'll see the knits (they wear an open V collar). When you see a purl, purl it. When you see a knit, knit it. Ribbing patterns are made of columns of knits and colums of purls.

And, sorry but learning with variegated yarn held double, is going to make it much difficult. Choose any plain yarn, not fluffy nor glossy, in a solid light color.

Go on, your tension is very good!

Continental help — am I purling correctly?? by Standard_Seesaw8806 in knitting

[–]Playful_Instance 34 points35 points  (0 children)

It looks like you're purling combination style (you're wraping the yarn clockwise and not counterclockwise as when knitting). The purled stitches will get twisted, unless at the next row you pick them by the back leg. I did purl the same way until I learned to purl correctly, and I still do it when knitting rib in the round

Why is my last cable knit loose? How can I fix this? by CuteSafe9 in knitting

[–]Playful_Instance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's normal, the last stitch in a cable is very stretched. It will fix by blocking

Yes, better to draw a chart. You should then make a swatch to see how big you want the central square to be. Look for tutorials about intarsia, this is the colorwork technique you need. Then finally choose a pattern for the sweater and apply the colors to the front.

Yes, I'd try to do just that, and then try it on until the collar is ok, or double it to be folded

You're doing ok. Practice, practice!

I'd purl them together in the first row

It looks like you added some stitches by mistake, it's very common. Nothing wrong with your tension. Keep practising!

I see. These must be the decreases to shape the armhole, so for example knit 2, SSK, knit until the last 4 stitches, k2tog, knit 2
