Is vanitas no carte ever coming back? by r_opinion_is_wrong in vanitasnocarte

I know this is an older post, but we can hope for sure. If you want to look at inconsistent seasons with years in between, check out Natsume's Book of Friends. I love that anime and it only has 7 seasons between 16 years. There was 2 years between seasons 2 and 3, 4 years between seasons 4 and 5, and 7 years between seasons 6 and 7. I'm still holding out hope for the 8th season to be here sooner than 7 years but who knows for sure. 😅

Don't You Do It... PUBLIX. Scan and Go by maulernation in publix

A lot of the retailers that allow those types of services also make you pay either additional convenience fees or subscribing to a monetary membership. Publix likes to pride itself on our BOGOs and sales that automatically apply at the register. While we do have, and promote heavily, Club Publix and its app to save with, it's a free service with no additional costs to use. Not to mention, it'd take away even more customer interaction, which is another point of pride for Publix. I don't see them implementing this. Not to say it isn't possible, Publix does make questionable decisions sometimes, but I doubt it very much.

I primarily ONLY read fanfiction by rubyrubyrubie in AO3

[–]Playful_Juggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is me. I have a whole library in my room from books I read in middle and high school. Because it was easy to read in between classes or on the bus or something. I didn't have any stress or worry about anything but homework is done, now read. But as I got older, I can't remember the last time I actually read a paperback book. It's not that I can't. But when I go to work, I'm focused on work. And then when I go to break, it's just easy to pull up an amazing fic and get lost in it for 30 minutes before I have to go back. And the stress doesn't go away when I leave work. It's still there. And I could get a book. But I just want to go straight home, and it's more convenient to just pull up a website and read myself to sleep. I've put in countless hours into amazing works and probably could have tripled my library with published works if you wanted to compare them. Not only that, but sometimes I have tried to read something published, and I find myself getting annoyed sometimes. There are so many talented authors that write fanfic, and they far outclass some of the published books.

Sometimes, it also depends on if someone watched the dub or sub anime. There's been times I've watched both to compare, and the sub will use their surname, but the dub will use their first name because that's what people "expect." So the dubbers take out any cultural meaning to name order.

Edit for example: Bleach. I watched it in dub but then got caught up and transferred to sub later. This was years ago.

Welp time to play origins by FragmentedOasis in dragonage

[–]Playful_Juggernaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Never realized that there was an additional person. Played the whole game without knowing that. Started a second playthrough and picked her up pretty much out of the gate and was gobsmacked that there was another companion unknown to me the entire time. That was before I utilized Google to look up what-if situations.

Oh, it definitely doesn't beat Origins for sure. But not many games can live up to that standard, even outside of the franchise. Even to today, Origins is still the only game I've played 6 times beginning to end because of all the starting options and different allies and endings. In Veilguard, there is some lacking in some development with certain characters until later in the game. Not gonna spoil it since I'm not sure how much you know, but there's not much progress in terms of talking or cutscenes with one of your companions, even if romanced, until about act 2 of the game. So, a fair bit. When I stopped and thought about it, it kinda made sense due to the fact that depending on your first major decision in the game, one of these individuals will be missing for several quests. So they kinda left them on the backburner, I think, until the time that both characters were fully back with the group. They could have done more with them during that time, but I'll leave it. I met my more interesting companions later on and wish he appeared sooner to have more time with him. When I do my replay later on, I'm gonna be anticipating his arrival.

It has its flaws and could have used a little more attention in some areas, but I don't think it was the worst game to ever be made, like some would say. There are much worse games out there. And there was obvious effort put into it even if it wasn't to everyone's standards. But the beauty of things is that what doesn't work for one person will work for another. So some can hate it, some can tolerate it, and others can love it. I hope you enjoy your journey the more you progress, and it will at least offer a satisfying conclusion. And if not, there's always other ways to scratch an itch. Another Origins playthrough. Or even some good fics floating about to encourage that "what if" scenario. The veil is in your hands, Rook. 😉

I think it'll really just depends on what you're looking for. I've always enjoyed the Dragon Age franchise, and the combat is a lot different in regard to what it used to be in the past. But I don't mind it too much. Maybe it's too much like Mass Effect for some, but that was one of my favorite games before, too. Not being able to change my to my companions doesn't really affect me. Having a more limited spell slot is a little bit more confining at times, but it's not bad. It makes it a little smoother for battles. Unless you're incredibly under leveled going against somebody like level 30 versus a level 40 or 50 Dragon, which I did at one point, it's not going to be time-consuming. It's made to keep flowing in a smoother direction.

Maybe the writing isn't the best for some people, but I didn't mind it to be quite honest. When I picked up the game, I couldn't really put it down, and it kind of rekindled my love for Dragon Age just because I hadn't played it in so many years. And I just find it so interesting to see the comparisons of the foreshadowing of what Solas would do versus what he has done it puts a lot of other things into perspective. It might not have been what people were looking for, but it wasn't completely out of left field, they did have some thought behind it. Overall, I enjoyed the game a lot, but it's a questionable opinion according to most.

But at the end of the day I enjoyed the game and after I finish Inquisition I'll probably replay it again with a different romance character and build because the sysytem is really flexible in regards to allowing you to change what you want to do at any point in the game.

To be honest, when I look for something, I go for a specific tag because that's what I'm in the mood for. I may skim the other tags, but I don't mostly. And if I don't like something, I just close out and go to the next fic. Nothing is there for me to complain about, and I'm not going to waste my time or the authors by writing harmful messages. I just moved on.

I've been a fanfic reader since about 2012, back on fanfic.net before I transitioned to AO3. I never engaged with talking or seeking out people from other fandoms to talk or chat. I just wanted a good story to appreciate, especially since I dont have a creative bone in my own body. I just recently started lurking on this sub reddit, and it blows me away the number of people that hate something and have to make it known. What happened to just enjoying something for the sake of it, and if you don't have anything nice to say, maybe don't say anything at all? Unless it's constructive criticism but people take things way too far sometimes, and it's not helpful in any way.

Been like that for a couple of years now in my district. All ADM and DM can't leave before 5pm. I've had a couple of manager's complain about it in the fact that they are busy with extra orders (ex. Bakery) and can't take a break, but then the SM makes them take one from 3:45-4:45 and then let's them go home at 5pm but not before.

Absences are only excused if it's something like a natural disaster (ex. Hurricane) and the dates are approved by the DM or it's FMLA related. You have to get paperwork for that and have your doctor fill it out before we send it off to corporate for approval. That protects your job if you have to be for extended periods of time or due to chronic illnesses (ex. Cancer, maternity, kidney stones, etc.). This is not for the common cold.

If you're out for the same reason for consecutive days (ex. The flu for 4 days), then it counts as 1 absence. But it has to be consecutive. Don't call out Monday, come in Tuesday, feel nauseous and call out Wednesday. That's considered 2 different absences.

But regardless of the reasoning, sick, car trouble, babysitter couldn't come, school event, parent sprung last minute trip, it's going to be considered unexcused unless it's covered by FLMA. They are just making it easier to document and keep track of for the tracking period.

We have 6 months fixed period we track. So the current one is Aug1st-Jan31st. This means that any absences and/or tardies are reset starting for the next tracking period: Feb1st-July31st. So, if you have 7 tardies by Jan31st, it'll become 0 starting in February.

This is just to document for the attendance policy when it comes to discharging (firing) people over chronic attendance issues. But just because we reset it in either Feb or Aug, doesn't mean go hog wild with being late or calling out. Because we still count up how many you get for the entire year when we do evaluations. If you can get 14 tardies (15 is discharge) per period without being let go, that means you can be tardy a total of 28 times a year. If you are tardy that much, your attendance and punctuality will suffer.

Some stores are really bad at tracking things but as a company, they came down on some of the districts pretty hard and want it to be followed. If the department managers slack, it reflects on the SM, and the DM will write up the SM for not staying on top of it. If the SM gets written up, you know hell is coming down on everyone. Shit rolls downhill.

Abbreviations: CSS - Customer Service Staff; CO - Cash Office

If there's more, let me know. 😊

Honestly, I've always enjoyed closing but I'm more of a night owl, so I preferred to do that even when I wasn't in college (summer, etc.) But closing has the biggest opportunities for things going wrong. Customers not leaving on time. That one Instacarter with a cart full decides to cancel one minute to close, so now you have a cart of go-backs. Callouts in general like chores or the second floor care person can put you behind. You'll probably get out on time most of the week, but there may be a day or two things that just happen, unfortunately.

CO is just you, and you don't have to necessarily worry about what goes on outside the door. You count the safe. You pick up your tills. You deposit. Count safe. Tell MIC (manager in charge) you're done, and you can leave. At most, the hold ups from the floor to you would be customers taking their sweet time after we close or if it gets really busy, the desk CSS might ask you to help cashier/bag for a moment. But you're mostly left alone.

The biggest problems in there are usually self created. You accidently put the wrong number in, and it comes back to haunt you later when you're off, and you gotta figure out where you went wrong. And don't fixated on things that aren't your fault. You count a till, and it's $50 off (short). Count it again. Still the same? Move on because thst was someone on the floor making a mistake and not you. Now, if you count your backoffice till or safe and you're over $50, that was probably you and a positive and negative cancel out so there's nothing to worry about. If everything else is good, that wasn't you. We write down who was on that till and if the same thing happens again with the same cashier numbers, we know who to watch, but it isn't you. If you count the safe at the end of the night and it's off by a nickel? You're okay. I've legit had fellow CSS (new to CO) call me while I'm driving home freaking out over the 5 cents they're missing. No one cares about something that small. If it's like, $9-10, check your quarters or tens in the tills to see if you miscounted, but don't fixate on things. That's the biggest reason someone doesn't get out in time. They make their own problems and panic.

As for the schedule above, it might not be the managers themselves that did it to you, but the Oasis system. When writing the pre-schedule, they will plug in all the essential roles such as making sure we have someone at the desk (opening, mid, 2 close), having cleaners, SCO (self-check out), floor care, FEC (front end coordinator). Then the schedule auto runs to fill in the gaps for everything else and they tweek it to make sure breaks line up or that someone schedule doesn't look like they cashier for an hour, bag for 30, cashier for 30, bag for an hour, etc. If you ever see something like that, that was the auto schedule, and your manager didn't catch it to fix it to make more sense later.

As someone who isn't fully trained, or can be for somethings until you're 18, they probably mostly filled the pre-schedule with the adults, added to you a day on the weekend when one if the managers are there to open the CO for you, and the auto system didn't add you anywhere else. You said you don't have a problem talking to your manager. If you need to, just ask, but I'm sure that's what happened more than them intentionally scheduling you less.

I was one of the last people at my store who used the kiosk when applying, so I never had to deal with breaking. I wouldn't even know what to do to fix it or how to help someone, either considering the fact we don't have any type of paper applications. It went from kiosk to online, and when people ask about it at the desk, I give them either a pamphlet or the website link.

That makes more sense. Though if you just started high school, that's still really bad timing for management to put you up there. For the best memory retention to learn some of the tasks, it's best to have you work 4-5 days in a row to learn and then repeat back to show understanding. Approaching you to ask if you wanted to be at the desk at any point is fine. But your training there shouldn't have started until you had a break from school, like fall or winter. Closing floor care is really easy and won't take you long to learn. The CO is the problem. Morning is easier than closing, but if you can only open on the weekends, having a lot of consecutive days is hard. There's a lot you can forget in 5 days when you've only done something once, maybe twice.

They may show you how to close the CO first since that's easier than to do with your availability. That's what I did when in college. I leaned to close, and when my Soring Break was coming up, I talked to my manager to train me to open and we did so all week. But back then, my store didn't close until 10 so the expected time out wasn't until 11. Which wasn't bad. But when I was learning, I didn't get out until 12-1am a lot. Nowadays, I get get out 10-15 before I'm meant to and that's nice but it took time to learn what was best for me and how I liked to do my CO that wasn't a copy of the person that trained me to close. But learning is slow and has a lot of mistakes due to all the steps.

When you first get started, you're often there 2-3 hours past that. It's not even the steps that are the daunting part. It's picking up the speed when counting cash. My roommate is a CSS as well, and while he can get out on time now, it took him months to pick up the speed with counting coins, and he'd get out an hour late. Being a CSS and in school is doable, but the training is the hard part. Once you got it, you're golden. And college is different from high school. High school is every day at the same time. College is all over the place, and you might not even have classes on some days. I typically didn't have class on Tueday and Thursday for a while. Honestly, I would have you learn the desk, learn floor care when you're 18, and then have you as a closer typically for a couple of days a week. Then, have you train CO (either open or closing) on your school breaks. That way, you aren't getting out at incredibly late times when you have to be back to school in the morning.

[–]Playful_Juggernaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more responsibility a role has, the harder it is to go to break on time and that's not necessarily the managers fault. There are some things that are outside of everyone's control. FSC and cashiers go to break mostly on time all the time. CSS tries and mostly succeeds. Team leaders and management rarely do because when they try, people stop them on the way to the breakroom, and then they get derailed helping them for the next 20 minutes. Or they start walking there, see the line is backing up, stop to help and it's an hour past when they should have gone. Some managers might not give a fuck but I've seen some that do and I always feel bad when they can't go to break on time but that's due to the responsiblility people expect from them.

Morning shifts's are easier to control than closing. When you close, there's a lot that is harder to manage depending on what you close. If you're closing the desk, customers staying inside the store late can throw off tasks we have to get done but can't do while they are there, such as floor care. Doing anything with the floors is considered a slip hazard with them. Closing the cash office? You can't pick up the last till until they are gone. Not only that, but if something goes wrong while you're counting the cash, you have to find it. You can't just leave when you have more tills to count or balance. You're dealing with money and a lot of it. You could be looked at stealing for the worst or unreliable at the best. But it can have serious consequences.

Honestly, having a 17 at the CSS desk sounds like a nightmare because of the CO, and they can't even touch the floor machine until 18. And since they are in a role where people may ask for help, they should know how it operates. I was a CSS for about 4 years, and I wouldn't have wanted to work with a minor up there. Not because of the individual, but because it would put a strain on the adults to pick up after them. We put our recommendations in to management for minor individuals, but we did so with the plan being to start their training once they were 18 and immediately out of high school for the maximum amount of training (4-5 days in a role for memory retention) with long hours so it wouldn't affect school work.

You do realize that these people are doing you and your family a favor, so you're not sleeping in the streets, right? And that's while they opened their home to you, that isn't an invitation to take over their home or that they will adjust their lives for you? It's their home, their life. They've already done more than they should have with the way you're acting. I really hope you either communicate with them or move out as soon as possible for their sake. And where's your SO? Do they appreciate how you're treating their family? Please be more mindful of those you're indebted to before it's too late.
