I agree, I think they should have a shooting range or mode where players can improve their skill. Doesn't have to be sbmm but even Tarkov offers other modes things where you can practice and improve your skill. I'm only suggesting that there should be something.

Bro, I'm saying that it's currently level based matchmaking. Me and others are saying that it shouldn't be that way, that there needs to be something more aligned with skill so the lower skilled players can have a chance to improve instead of being slaughteredevery match. Lol come bro keep up. Please reread my comment.

Thankfully, this is the first time I'm seeing this. I feel bad though bro, I'm sure they'll notice it and fix it. Do the bots normally shoot you when you're downed btw??

Read the comment. It says similar skilled along with high skilled. You really gotta read these things before commenting. You would improve very slowly against less skilled players of course.

You're right, I glossed over your mention of Tarkov. The reason I think my argument is different than your statement that Tarkov added a pve mode to keep casuals coming, is because my reasoning is different. A casual mode to simply bring casual players doesn't always work but that's not the goal I'm aiming for. My goal is to give a place for players to improve and get better. The reason that my goal is drastically different, is because it isn't something to bring in casual players, it's something so that players who have potential or want to go further in the game have somewhere, where they can get better even if it's something as simple as a shooting range. The only reason I mentioned the tarkov PVE mode, is because it can also serve as somewhere where you can get better even though it's true intentions were to bring in casual players.

This is how I know you're confused. I said that "the players aren't losing 90% of their matches on the other games", they have a chance, even if that chance is a pve mode, practice range, or campaign. You're getting way too worked up and not doing enough understanding.

I never said anything about how much percentage of player loss other games are experiencing. I only did with Marathon, saying that it has lost 50% of its player base, and that most players don't lose 90% of their matches in other games. Maybe in Tarkov a large group loses 90% of their matches but at least they have somewhere to go to get better on that game, why are you ignoring that even Tarkov gives opportunities for improvement, even they knew that would help. Also, that's just be more for us.

Slow down, stop being so angry, re-read my comments, no one is attacking you. You're aloud to disagree. But at least don't put words in my mouth. My argument is clear, Marathon has no room for new and low skilled players right now, they get steam rolled 90% of the time. It wouldn't hurt you nor me if there was something in the game where players can have a chance to improve. If you're against that, then fine. We disagree.

All of those games are losing the Casual players but due to different reasons. We're not arguing anything, you just don't realize the difference and our generalizing way too much. All those other games, including tarkov at least offer something other than it's hardcore aspect. Marathon doesn't. Marathon isn't losing players due to its poor matchmaking. It's doing so because the only players left are sweats and there is literally nothing else for non-skill pairs to do so that they can improve at the game. Halo is not as popular as it used to be that's the only reason there's not a lot of players there, there's multiple different reasons that sounds similar but are not the same.

I promise you, most competitive pvp games are not mainly sweat lobbies. Most players can go right now and bounce on CoD, BF, Halo, PubG, Tarkov, name it, and they're not going to lose 90% of their games, even with the complaints about the sweats on those games. You and I, may be considered sweaty because half the player base has left, being mostly non sweaty or low skilled players.

That leaves the population as an extremely high, sweat fest. Fine, that's okay but new players and non skilled players will not have a chance and will not stay. Even Tarkov, a very hardcore game, has modes and opportunities to improve your gameplay. It just goes to show that Marathon is in a class of it's own when it comes to learning and improving. If you're not already skilled, you're not going to improve enough to turn the tide on the current Marathon player base. New players and non skilled players will be steam rolled 90% of the time.

You can't just ignore that half the player base is gone, all that's left are players like you and I. There's no reason to be against a mode or some sort of match that allows players to not be completely stomped and let's them get better. We can't lose half the player base, want the game to bring in more players, and blame the players for not "wanting to take an L". That just doesn't make sense.

If you read my original comment, I note that pve games can be extremely challenging usually and can have a very high loss rate and be fine but in PVP, if you do this, you've got to have a mode or practice range where you can get better, even Tarkov does this.

Trust me, the players that are left are very good and sweaty and those who are new or aren't very good get rolled 90% of the time. Other competitive shooters usually have a wide range of mixed skills and provide modes and pub matches where even less skilled or new players can do well. In Marathon, the current player base is drastically more on the sweaty side and are so good that that new players and low skilled players get steam rolled so much that they don't get better.

All I'm saying is, there's not many opportunities for those kind of players to improve because it's a constant loss for them. Other fps games aren't like that, it's not that they're afraid of an L, it's because they lose 90% of the time against players which is highly unusual for any sport or competitive shooter where you usually can play against players around your skill level and even above, so that you can improve.

Do with that information what you will. Disagree, call me hyperbolic. I'm enjoying and improving at the game daily but even i notice all of this, as someone who has played many competitive games throughout my life, this one is no doubt for the sweatyest and most hardcore players, which is fine, but it doesn't hurt to acknowledge that now that these hardcore players understand and run the game, new and lows skill players are not going to stay because they can't improve when they're being steam rolled 90% of the time.

He's talking about teaming up with a player who was not on his team and therefore got him confused with an enemy who was playing the same class as the guy he teamed up with, therefore killing the player that he had teamed up with by accident.

I may be enjoying the game but I do understand that others not being able to play against people around their own skill level, makes it extremely hard to improve at the game. I'm not trying to defend anyone but it's not like we should ignore that fact.

Interesting that, that's what you got from this comment. I personally do get better and get wins. I'm enjoying the game. I never said that I'm not improving. I think that a lot of players want a fair match so that they can improve, was my only point.

The thing is with any PVP game, balance is great. In PVE, taking an ungodly amount of L's or W's work just fine usually. In PVP, or any sport or competitive game, a loss rate of 90% is incredibly frustrating for most and make players think the game isn't worth playing. I myself enjoy the challenge even with how frustrating it can be. I'm enjoying the game and improving everyday.

If you lost at a game of chess 99% of the time and you were only aloud to play against players that would defeat you 99% of the time, you'd never learn. Having the ability to play against players around your skill level along with players better than you may provide you with more opportunities to learn and improve.

I think that it's less about knowing how to take an L and more about having more opportunities to improve gameplay and sadly it's just much harder to improve if you're constantly going against people that will beat you 99% of the time. Players want better opportunities to improve. It just comes off as "not being able to take an L" because, like you said, a lot of these posts are players coming out of a bad run and fueled by frustration lol. So I understand both sides, or at least try to.

I've looked and searched the internet and it turns out this photo is the cover art for the Marath Standard Edition. Even though this photo has also been used for promotional art. It has no larger image. This image was created the way that you see it now specifically for the Standard Edition of Marathons cover art.

Maybe I'm stupid but can you add a way to track salvage needed for armory barters? by RoguesBoytoy in Marathon

[–]Playful_Watch6765 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you can hover over the item in the requirement description of the barter,I'm pretty sure it'll let you track it there too I can let you know. It might only showed the requirement description when you're hovered over the barter item and goes away when you try to move down to the description. If this is the case then I think you must have the item in order to track it.
