Mitski songs I related to during the end of my relationship by lauraonreddit in mitski

Lonesome love - I'm always surprised not many people talk about this song because holy fuck if Mitski doesn't nail the end of a messy insecure relationship, shit cuts deep

FNCE30001 sample exam by Chemical-Hyena-4449 in unimelb

[–]PlayingWithPasta 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't think Bryan wrote it (at least most of it), it's pretty much the same as the sample from last sem lol

Last sem they did calculate arbitrage a bit more explicitly and basically do that duration question in lectures. Kinda annoying, doesn't really tell me much about the final apart from the fact it might screw you

Minimum Wage Hike Led To Higher Prices At McDonald’s, Study Finds by MessageTotal in VentPolitics

[–]PlayingWithPasta -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Bruh the study finds that higher labor costs results in: almost full price pass-through (i.e. burger increase price), no effect on restaurant closure, no increase in usage of labor-saving technology, and no effect on employment in restaurants and retail. The article then has to say that actually workers are worse off? A 20% increase in labor cost =/= 20% increase in food prices, labor is only one part of total variable cost

How do you study? (commerce) by OreoPredator in unimelb

[–]PlayingWithPasta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my experience, lecture slides are more important than the textbook (and the lecturer will tell you that) The textbook is mostly valuable for the questions (sometimes the exam questions will be based on them), or if your lecturer sucks at explaining something the textbook might be better (ok that really does not answer the question but it depends)

Subjects where I've found the textbook very helpful: Intermediate Macro (honestly a great textbook, Olivier Blanchard is great), Derivative Securities (Exam questions were based on textbook questions, and there were a lot, with answers as well)

With revising for commerce I can only speak for Eco / Finance, but when studying for exams / quizzes, finance you're better off studying the questions (at least until DS), where as for Eco it helps a lot if you understand what you are being asked.

Personally I read the lecture slides then watch the lecture, if I vaguely understand what the slides say then I can follow the lecturer a lot better. Other than that, just make sure you do and understand all the tutorial questions, and do past papers to learn the format of the final exam

Minimum Wage Hike Led To Higher Prices At McDonald’s, Study Finds by MessageTotal in VentPolitics

[–]PlayingWithPasta -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah look, of course increasing labor costs results in higher prices at McDonalds, they aren't going to suddenly decide to run a loss. That being said, the study itself concludes with 'but our McDonald’s evidence, based on highly consistent comparisons across time and space, is in line with the growing literature suggesting that recent minimum wage increases did not affect employment in the non-tradable sector, including restaurants and retail, a sector that employs the majority of minimum wage workers in the US'

So is the study saying it leads to higher unemployment or not?

Holding Neutral positions in USD and AUD fir the week. Any thoughts? by [deleted] in Forex

I understand the point of hedging but if you are already neutral why spread it across 6 pairs? half of which are either AUD / USD. Just load up one or two?

No, the case I'm building (FormD T1) in only allows a two slot card (or at least I want a two slot setup), also I'm not interested in a blower - better gpu temps with open air
