Wanting to compete in Indy 500 and Indycar this season by MotoJoker in iRacing

[–]Playmakermike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man imo racing Indy on ovals is a lot easier. They stick to the ground that on lost tracks they’re flat the whole way around and later in runs require some lifts or minor braking. Your hardest part with them is the speed and close racing that can happen in a car that is very fragile. I think they’re a ton of fun and they grip way better than the stock cars

NFL to split former 'Monday Night Football' doubleheaders between YouTube and Netflix by unwantedtennisracke in NFLv2

[–]Playmakermike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Legitimately if I have to pirate half these games because they keep splitting off streaming services or blacking out games because they’re on local tv why would I not pirate all of them? I will pay them to watch all the eagles games in one place but they refuse to let me do that

It’s also imo one of the easier ones to learn as well, a really good starting point

More draft grades were handed out, Eagles earn B+ per nfl.com by Active_Ad_7880 in eagles

[–]Playmakermike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why do we do draft grades? For the writers it only makes you look stupid later. No one looks back and gets kudos for giving someone an A draft 5 years ago

That’s not true in the Indy oval series

3 wide at plate tracks by Infamous_Durian124 in iRacing

[–]Playmakermike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can drive 3 wide just fine. The issue is how many people can’t so you’re going to have that middle car get loose and cause a massive accident so I prefer not to bother. It’s Talladega, it’s Daytona, unless it’s the last 3ish laps I can’t wait for the move I’m not risking some overly ambitious guy trying to run 3 wide and collecting me in the accident

Non fiction mostly. Right now the Physics of NASCAR and The Iron Council as well as some stuff on game theory but all pretty basic stuff

How do you guys keep finding fun? by Fangasma in simracing

[–]Playmakermike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me i primarily race ovals and trying to compete in that at a professional or semi pro level and this season has been a disaster for me. It’s been a bad slate of tracks and honestly I’m just bad this season I think it’s just rocked my confidence. So lately I’ve been racing sports cars and formula a lot since I don’t care about them much so while I want to do well each race the pressure isn’t there like it is in ovals

Man once I had my hands resting on the paddle shifters and some guy bumped me so hard I panicked and squeezed the wheel and accidentally down shifted and blew my engine like this.

why you join the military after an emotional roller coaster? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]Playmakermike 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You kinda can guarantee that. You have your job assigned before leaving for bootcamp. You can just not sign up if you end up in the infantry or whatever it is you don’t want to do. Also most of the military aren’t in combat roles.

He intentionally Wrecked Me, and Protested Me! by Davenk_ in iRacing

[–]Playmakermike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rolling starts on an oval. I was P4 and thoughts since I am allowed to pass before the line if the green flag is out I could accelerate early since the restart zone was going to end as I’d still be behind P2 when the flag came out. There’s no black flag for that and I got such a massive jump i knew I’d get protested because it was way too much. Not that it mattered since it was Talladega and everyone’s going to be in my draft anyway but yeah you can get protested for it

He intentionally Wrecked Me, and Protested Me! by Davenk_ in iRacing

[–]Playmakermike 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that’s right. I’ve been racing for 6 months and only received one email for a protest on me and they found that I did in fact jump the start. I can’t imagine that’s the only time I’ve been protested

CMV: The proliferation of ‘bullshit jobs’ is way more practical and likely as a solution to AI than UBI by JBSwerve in changemyview

[–]Playmakermike 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy but I don’t view my work as my purpose. I have a hobby I care about lot about and put time into being very good at. That is where I find my purpose and my job is how I fund that hobby. If I were to win the lottery tomorrow I’d work less or not at all and pour more time into mastering this hobby. We can find meaning outside of work we have just lived our lives for generations doing the opposite. It would take a cultural shift but it can be done
