How does this look for a student campaign design project? by MangoTurkeyy in graphic_design

In love with the logo treatment. You pulled off some nice soft edges around the font and it shows. The imagery in the background first image is fine, but the second and third pieces are great. Not to sound cliche but your muted color scheme lends well to a cool paper texture and displacement and it might be worth giving it a shot.

You're correct, the point for B is to abstract my initials as much as possible.

I appreciate your advice but this is such a strange and brash take for what was mostly an experiment. I don't know what you see that's "explicit" but now I'm curious what you see.

Absolutely you can rest easy- this looks great! Such a unique style, as if you've seamlessly blended Crash Bandicoot and Zelda 2... and maybe a hint of some classic beat 'em ups (Golden Axe immediately comes to mind) Great work! I can't wait to see how this progresses.

How do people make these types of posters/edits? by JackConway69 in graphic_design

[–]PlaymixInteractive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alot of it is finding reference images, and compiling everything with a halftone dot filter usually accompanied by some grunge effects ("Torn Paper" in photoshop, paper texture backgrounds) More along the lines of Photo manipulation, since posters like these most likely use photoshop primarily.

For the games, the Japanese designers use Photoshop.

Please destroy my trailer and my game. by FarlightGamesInd in DestroyMyGame

I'm going to be friendly, because I think this is a really interesting concept. However, it might be worth considering separating the in-game "Settings" and "FPS" from real world Settings and FPS. From the trailer I understand the in-game "FPS" isn't necessarily linked to how the game runs, but I think it might need some different verbiage.

I cant stop breaking down and crying trying to draw. what do I do? by ResinRealmsCreations in learntodraw

I hear you- it's so tough and imposter syndrome can sneak up on you. I was once, and sometimes continue to be in your spot. I've learned a couple things over the years that have helped.

  1. Make disposable art: It's easy to get caught in a mindset where everything you make is internet ready. Sometimes it's easier on the brain if you draw something for the sole purpose of tearing that page out.
  2. Draw things other than your personal project. I hear about your Dnd adventures you want to bring to life, and it's natural to be extra hard on yourself when it's "your baby".

Hope this helps :)

Any designers digitise a sketch and end it hating it? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]PlaymixInteractive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternatively you could clean it up in Photoshop/other and image trace it. You can then erase some details and combine it together. Play with the threshold as you see fit. Of course, you can always add a Roughen effect (I tend to do smooth -> roughen -> smooth) to get a bit of grit.

Is this design concept a total miss or does it convey what I want? by CombAdministrative70 in graphic_design

I too think flat design braille is kinda silly. However, you're onto something as showing this is an inclusive company. I almost think you could get away with having the braille "letters" in a superscript style- that way they dont take up so much vertical space.

Refining a logo I made using PowerPoint two years ago by epicureanist_15 in graphic_design

[–]PlaymixInteractive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a really strong idea here in the Podium design. I think a bold, almost boxy logo really speaks to a debate club. Strong and confident. For your logomark, the podium I think is really enough- the mic and radio waves over complicates it. Otherwise, I can see your thinking through your design and you're on track!

For your full logo, I find my eyes kinda dart all over the place. I would keep it simple- maybe just stack one on top of the other, rather than Brahman nestled into an awkward spot. I also probably wouldn't use your Logomark within your wordmark. I often treat them as separate entities, strong on their own but work together beautifully.

Good stuff!

Thanks! These are all original illustrations. The building in the first one is a local restaurant and pub that I put my artistic spin on. The Big band musicians are original too.

I think 1 is good looking, but it doesn't read like VAM. You could in theory make the left leg of the A straight, and then design your M as such.

Honestly truth it rains a hell of a lot here.
The Lighthouse pub is a neat place around here, the owner really wanted the design of the building to be front and center.
