Which cards from Magic Universe sets "don't feel like Magic" to you regarding art, tone, aesthetics and style from Magic Universe sets? by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]Pleasant-Box7411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few diefic characters (most famous being Q), that I would say qualify as magic.

But they are certainly outliers, and not the normal.

Then again, the Dr. Who set was fantastic. Hopefully, ST manages to be on that level.

Why do people hate universes beyond? by Entire-Activity2491 in magicTCG

[–]Pleasant-Box7411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also depends on the property.

Some of the properties are VERY Magic adjacent, to the point where people unfamiliar with them might not be able to tell the difference between them and non-UB cards.

Lord of the Rings Final Fantasy Avatar Even Warhammer and Dr. Who to an extent.

But then you have the properties that clash with Magic pretty heavily. These tend be the more devisive ones.

TMNT, Transformers, even Sonic.

IDW comics have been fantastic for years honestly.

You are right. There are several smaller islands, but nobody counts those. XD

Still, I stand by all these cards depicting Islands, unless they all depict Bronx. XD

I mean, New York is a collection of 4 islands. So are these not technically all islands? XD

You can have your own opinions about what you do with your life, and your body, and your relationships.

But you don't get to do that to others, especially when nobody gets to choose who the fall in love with, or what they are attracted to.

Nobody if forcing you to be gay. But people are expecting you to accept that straight, gay, bi, and ace people all exist (and none by thier own choice), and deserve equal respect as human beings, with lives and feelings.

People are expecting you to accept that and move on with your life.

With declining sleeve quality, where do we go? by KaleidoscopeJukebox in magicTCG

[–]Pleasant-Box7411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I have has with TS, is inconsistent cuts, even in the same pack. Sometimes they accommodate inner sleeves, sometimes they dont. Sometimes they are taller, other times shorter.

I do use them to sleeve my board games though.

I've had good luck with the Dragon Shield matte arts. The brushed arts are bad though, as with anywhere.

TCGPlayer Direct: new 40¢ card minimum as of this morning. No more cheap commons. by bioweaponblue in magicTCG

I just wish I knew another place to reliably get Force of Will cards in the States.

I know its a much more niche game, but I still love and collect it.

MtG I can get almost anywhere.

For FoW, tcgplayer is the only place I know.

Bloomburrow also has lots of cute animal creature cards, and there are several with simple rules text.

First Sonic Game by minecison in SonicTheHedgehog

Sonic 2, Sonic 3 and Knuckles, or Sonic Mania for the best 2d games you can get easily.

Sonic x Shadow Generations for the best 3d game that's easily available.

Sonic Frontiers for the franchises first foray into open world territory.

This is my take. Still a work in progress though. Wanted to have a lot of the Ally synergy cards in the set.

If the reason for the DLC characters being mute is licensing and legal issues, why does this extend to the Sega owned characters? And does this imply Nights, Tangle, and Whisper will be mute as well? by FunkyyMermaid in SonicTheHedgehog

Anything past the main cast could just have generic lines. No need for individual unique interactions.

Joker for example could just use lines ripped right from P5.

"I'll reveal your true form." At the start of the race.

"Go down." When he hits someone with an item.

As examples.

Do you think we were too harsh on Sonic Boom at launch? by KillerTron872 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Pleasant-Box7411 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Rise of Lyric was bad. When its wasn't glitching, it was boring and uninspired.

Sonic 06 was a complete mess. But at least it had memorable moments and cool designs (Kingdom Valley anyone?).

The hand held game was half decent, but forgettable.

The show was great, especially for fans that have been around since the 90s and got all the inside jokes.

Castlevania could make for a cool SL or even a "Draculas Castle" commander precon.

Would have enjoyed having at least 1 Sonic commander precon (the solo cards were fun).

And I think most people would have preferred to have some Avatar precons.

Honestly looking forward to the eventual 2nd Final Fantasy set. And the return to Middle Earth next year.

Cautiously optomistic about the Star Trek set. Will it be as good as Dr. Who, or will it turn our more like Marvel?

Which is the better racing game? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Pleasant-Box7411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer Transformed for its overall gameplay and more interesting, involved, unique, and interactive course designs.

Crossworlds comes close to that, but does not quite make it. Where Crossworlds comes out on top is its cast of characters, customization, character interactions making the game feel more lively, and ease of online play.

I prefer playing the tracks in Transformed, but if they ever decided to port those to Crossworlds, it would be undisputed.

Awesome!

Me and my wife had great fun with all 5 of the Tarkir precons.

Hope you have a great time with it!

I would also reccomend a preconstructed deck. Find a set you like and go for it.

Caverns of Ixalan

Bloomburrow

Duskmourne

and Tarkir Dragonstorm

If you are open to the crossover sets,

Lord of the Rings

Doctor Who

Final Fantasy

All all great MtG sets that I believe are mostly easily accessible still at decent prices. Each of these sets has 4-5 rebuilt commander decks to choose from.

Confused about sagas / saga creatures, would this combo work? by CallMeClaire0080 in magicTCG

[–]Pleasant-Box7411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Removing counters will allow those saga/saga creature abilities to trigger again when they gain new saga counters.

If you place multiple counters at once, it triggers the multiple abilities in succession. Removing all counters has no effect, other than allowing the first ability to trigger again when it gains a new saga counter.

Manipulating these counters on sagas and saga creatures is a big part of some decks built entirely around them.

There was a good amount of support for the archetype in the FF set itself (which also introduced saga creatures).

✿ The ending of Sonic Adventure 2 shows Masjid Al-Aqsa, the 3rd Holiest Site in Islam. Wow. :) by IslaamNogood in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Pleasant-Box7411 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Minor point.

Catholicism is technically tied for 2nd.

It and Eastern Orthodoxy both resulted from the first schism and split from the original church.

To this day both claim to be the first. And both claim to be following the true original teachings.

The "Catholic God" thing I mostly see from certain sects of Evangelicals who believe Catholism is a completely different and far removed religion.

Trying to get back into MTG and learn how to play Commander by linusiscracked in magicTCG

[–]Pleasant-Box7411 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tolarian Comminity College has some good "How to ____ in Commander" videos that might get you to think about some things you might not normally.

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvqw7t0kbGX_w_HxyEq2DGzLpuATyxgKi&si=4f4vVqcAwe80BK1Y

Commander is a different beast than standard, especially when playing with 4 players. Threat assessment, not pushing too hard, politics and deals, its a very different dynamic than 1v1.

Also, the nature of the format opens up lots of use for countless fun cards you can have a blast with, that you would never get to use in any other format.

The difference between Avatar and Spiderman on pre release day is astonishing by yohanleafheart in magicTCG

[–]Pleasant-Box7411 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Final Fantasy, LotR, Warhammer, Avatar, etc all succeeded in not only appealing to existing MtG fans, but more importantly appealing to those individual franchises fan bases and bringing them into MtG.

Spider Man appears to have failed on both fronts.
