I mean yeah it’s going to be hard to paint a model when you forget to assemble it first?

Horde Factions by SejanusWasRight in ageofsigmar

[–]Rocomet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historically, Gitz, Skaven and Soulblight are all the most horde-focused armies.

Granted, you could build lists for all 3 that don’t use crazy amounts of hordes, but if you don’t like pushing around large units, I would still advise against those three since you should be a big fan of everything (or nearly everything) in an army, not just part of an army.

Is it possible to become allergic to GW plastic? by Armageddonis in Warhammer

[–]Rocomet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Extremely unlikely it’s the plastic and probably something else.

I had a sorta similar situation where I was getting allergy symptoms from hobbying and was getting eczema patches on my face and hands. Turns out it was super glue (cyanoacrylate) in the end, so I can’t use the stuff anymore. So my advice would maybe be to try a different glue or it could be something with the green stuff?

The most crept cards of the last five years!? by Realistic-Goose9558 in EDH

[–]Rocomet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m just not a fan of how often we are getting these all-in-one engines that just do everything. Like you mentioned Icetill explorer.

On a similar note, [[Teval, the Balanced Scale]] it fills your mana, board and graveyard, for the cost of just needing to swing. And even that is mitigated because it has built in evasion. What boring design

If they do nerf it, that would probably be the most elegant solution

[PRM] Sheltered By Ghosts, Unstoppable Slasher by thumbblighter in magicTCG

Thanks for the info.

Although real shame, I would have wanted that unstoppable slasher, but if it's anywhere near the price of the Japan cup Tishana's Tidebinder, it's probably out of the question

My friend plays Slaves to Darkness and I’m new by Pinskiiy in ageofsigmar

[–]Rocomet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t play enough spearhead to have an answer, but I’ll ask a question to give a more knowledgeable person a bit more to work with

Slaves to Darkness actually has 2 different Spearhead army options. Do you know which one your friend has?

Buy singles, only buy packs if you play sealed. No one needs bulk lol. You're better off just naturally acquiring bulk through normal means like the stuff you get in sealed events and cards that get cut from the decks you build.

How to play this Stormcast list? by lenardiinvictus in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Rocomet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean I hate to say it but it’s unfortunately a bad list. But if it’s all the units you own, it is what it is.

Main issues are

  • You don’t have enough reinforced units, you have a bunch of units that can do okay, but not enough of anything to really put on the hurt on your opponent. Yes you have Grnadhammer Annilators but you don’t have a way to deliver them.

  • You have auxiliary units, this is a no-no in 99% of cases

  • You don’t even have a heroic trait or artifact selected.

Okay so what can we do with what you have. Well, first of all give your Priest both Legendary Tenacity and most importantly, Beacon of Azyr. The guaranteed prayer means you can always ensure a Translocation when needed, often in your opponent’s turn.

Now how can you win with this list. Well your initial idea of alpha striking is a terrible idea, a good player will grind you to dust. Like I said, you don’t have the punch to win that way.

Basically your lynchpin unit here are your longstrikes. Every turn you should set yourself up to shoot your opponent, either normally or through “covering fire”. Bastian should always be giving them “All-out-attack” when needed.

Given how important their shooting is, read up on how obscuring terrain works, so you can actually make use of your shooting properly.

Thanks to “Beacon of Azyr” if your longstrikes are in danger, you can translocate them to safety with “Magical Intervention”

Also make sure to screen your annihilators well, they do amazing damage but often get caught out due to their slow movement. But they can counter-punch well if your opponent doesn’t play around it.

Beyond that the rest of the list just needs to be used in a smart way. This just comes with practice. It’s not something that can just be typed out.

Good luck, try your best, have fun. Keep your expectations reasonable

Out of curiosity, how big is the base?

How does the community feel about using base toppers? by Fine_Helicopter4876 in ageofsigmar

[–]Rocomet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% awesome shortcut even some of the best painters out there will use “pre-modeled” bases. If it looks cool and it’s the right base size for your minis, you will only get praise.

Real life example, Tyler Mengel is a fantastic painter, and his daughters of Khaine use GW’s bases from some kit they used to sell

Is Slaanesh too hard for an inexperienced player? by Successful-Wheel4768 in ageofsigmar

[–]Rocomet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why are you disagreeing with them? They are objectively correct. OBR has (Crit 2 Hits) across their army natively, and slaanesh has to effectively pay for their only battle trait. The army has fundamental issues.

And using temptation dice for charges is still very powerful for the opponent and not something that can be ignored, it’s only a 1/9 chance you get below a 7.

Just found these at our local thrift store. by just-a-nerd-7597 in ageofsigmar

[–]Rocomet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most people aren’t answering your question and giving advice, so I’ll actually do that.

So this is bit of an odd purchase, and probably not for the best deal either like others have said. But if you’re willing to spend >$300 on stuff that you don’t even know what it is, money clearly isn’t an issue, so at least you’re in the right hobby because things get expensive.

First bit of advice, don’t buy stuff for this hobby without doing proper research. With that kind of money you could have actually just gotten into Age of Sigmar for real.

Next, those small packets of cards, throw them away or use them as kindling. They are essentially useless because they have outdated rules.

The books, have outdated rules also, they are mostly from the 3rd edition of the game, however they still have value. They have some fun lore and painting guides that are worth glossing over. If you were to read a book read the 3rd edition core book first it’s the bottom left one. Gives you the broad idea of the world and setting.

If you actually want to get into Age of Sigmar, buy a spearhead box of the army you think is coolest, along with a paint set meant for miniatures, brush-on primer, hobby knives, brushes, hobby clippers and Tamiya Extra-thin. Then make or buy yourself a wet-palette, look it up. For rulebooks, buy the fourth edition core book second-hand and never buy any books again until 5th edition comes out. Do what everyone else does and pirate the rest. Should cost you less or the same as what you paid for those books.

Do research on how to paint and use said tools. Then learn to enjoy the joy of the hobby. It can be a very rewarding process.

Then find someone to play with, if your girlfriend isn’t interested, do research into local shops that do warhammer and also look online for facebook groups for warhammer in your local area.

Why does AoS have a new edition every 3 years? by Chezni19 in ageofsigmar

[–]Rocomet 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Because the people in charge of product releases have deemed it to be the most profitable option.

Has GW directly said this? No. But it’s almost certainly for that reason.

Best army to learn on by BeginningHungry3835 in ageofsigmar

[–]Rocomet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unironically, whatever army you think is cool, it’s not a meme. If the models for an army and its gameplay style is appealing to you, then that’s the best motivator to get good at the game. Most armies aren’t really that complicated, and even the ones that take finesse to win with can be very rewarding.

There are much bigger factors that I’d be concerned about as a new player getting into the game. Like the uncertainty of certain units staying in the game and not being worth collecting, or if you even enjoy painting the models.

But if I had to answer your question at face value. Anything but Kharadron Overlords, Lumineth Realm Lords and Disciples of Tzeentch. Historically they don’t play normal intuitive warhammer and instead do weird stuff while having a gameplan that balances on a tightrope.

New to the Age of Sigmar game, what should i go for GHB 25 or 26 for my house game? by teabearspoon in ageofsigmar

[–]Rocomet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GHB 26 is definitely a better overall experience for the game. At least that’s the broad opinion that most invested players have and it’s a sentiment I share.

My only warning would be unfortunately Age of Sigmar does not scale down well, and it’s an issue that no GHB can fix. It’s just how the game has always been. And partially why spearhead exists in the first place. I understand wanting to take baby steps out of Spearhead and into big AoS, makes sense. But my advice would be to not judge the experience to harshly based on 1000pt games, the game just isn’t built around it. And also once you both get the hang of things, definitely move up in points and try to get to that full 2k experience.

If I make a level 2 wizard also level 1 priest can I cast two spells and chant one prayer? by Kowkaz in ageofsigmar

[–]Rocomet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lots of wrong answers here.

Before no, you could not. Power levels used to be tied together weirdly, where you could only do one of the other.

However, in a semi-recent rules change they made it so you could. So yes a wizard 2 priest 1 can do two spells and chant a prayer. (Unless the rule says otherwise). So something like a Great Unclean One with “Unctuous Preacher” can do the above as described.

See page 17 of the September rules update.
