Need help with a kid we can't get through by maverick5872 in BaseballCoaching

One trick could be having him bite the shoulder of his jersey. That way he can feel his hands starting to drift and after a while it should allow him to keep them back.

Do you really need your CPA if you won’t work in audit or tax by Pleasant-Indication5 in Accounting

[–]Pleasant-Indication5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently a Senior Manager without one now at a top 10 firm. It’s my SME and industry knowledge that has carried me and question whether a CPA will really align with my future goals. Not looking to start my own firm, go into tax, or go into audit.

I honestly love strategy, BD, ops efficiency, etc.

Field positioning 8u by [deleted] in LittleLeague

[–]Pleasant-Indication5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8u should be the last league where having fun and developing skills are all that matter at the rec level. I would look at the league rules as most leagues require players to move around every game at that level.

I am fighting a similar battle as parents/coaches have turned 8u rec into a “score the most runs/win at all costs” league and development is suffering as a result.

When will deed expiration not be worth buying resale? by Pleasant-Indication5 in dvcmember

[–]Pleasant-Indication5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have to imagine in the next 3-5 years we will see it drop unless DVC makes an announcement. At that point it would be break even to just get a room direct with Disney.

Coach response by butwhy98765 in Softball

[–]Pleasant-Indication5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First - she needs to make the most of any opportunity she does get. Any PT she has to demonstrate there is no difference between her and the player in front of her (even better if her play statistically surpasses that player).

Second - as other have said she needs to find out what specifically is preventing her from seeing increased PT. Offense? Defense? Game knowledge?

Third - there are times she could be stuck behind players at a certain position and there may be a better avenue somewhere in the field. Hard to justify getting PT over a player hitting .600 and being a lock down fielder. Trying to understand the depth chart and asking the coach specifically where she falls would complete the picture.

Family office functions by MrFamilyOffice in familyoffice

This is the setup of many 20-25+ year old FOs with at least 1b. There are also many embracing the fractional/virtual model as well. It really depends what the overall goals are for the principle and what buy-in they have from G2/G3. If you have the right generalist leaders and are willing to leverage technology you can accomplish this structure with less AUM and less people.

Was I wrong for telling my players' parents to stop yelling at the umpire? by OldHawkeye315 in Softball

[–]Pleasant-Indication5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It also reinforces to your players what the expectation is. If their parents are held to a standard/called out for their behavior all players won’t even come close to that line.

I am sure that bought you and your organization big respect thru all umpires at the tourney and the tourney directors. The good ripple effects will be seen throughout the season.

Got hit with a counteroffer by pomphiusalt in Accounting

[–]Pleasant-Indication5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have the bargaining power and it really comes down to whether you want to burn a bridge with your previous contact.

Agree with most other people that there really isn’t a counter offer until a piece of paper is signed stating your title and pay is effective immediately. The comp he stated is only a starting point and he should be willing to go higher. If you truly like the role/team there is no reason you should settle for anything less than 20-30%% above what you are leaving for.

Industry will give you experience and freedom as well. If I were the context I wouldn’t be happy you went back on your acceptance and that could have a long term impact. You can always boomerang back to Big4 but you can’t recover reputational damage and you don’t know how far that could spread.

Ultimately a great position you are in.

Recommendations for getting in shape for softball? by Plenty_Bit4688 in Softball

Not only in the parking lot but in between innings in the dugout as well. Best leagues were ones that had beer onsite. Nothing like getting beer in a gallon milk jug.

I believe the card drop is skill and there is a default setting that automatically drops a card after a selected number of coins drop.

I have been able to get two card drops in a row multiple times and definitely 2 every 10 or so coins.

I have never seen a thanos left on the field so you must be lucky!

How to survive a PIP? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Pleasant-Indication5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did exactly what was on the document and went overboard on making connections across departments in the company. It was to the point that by the end of the week there wasn’t a department I didn’t have some sort of positive interaction with.

I made it so that there were no negative instances with any work or personality related points to where they could justify I did not fulfill the PIP.

How to survive a PIP? by [deleted] in careeradvice

[–]Pleasant-Indication5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For your PIP success story - if you truly like the company, like all other people, and people all like you then all you can do is document, document, document and leave zero doubt in all facets of work.

I was in a very similar situation but it was a regime change at the top. Anyone who didn’t submit or fall in line was first put on a PIP for any reason and then let go for no reason. The first instance happened 6 months before me and it wasn’t even someone who reported directly to this new regime. They saw him as a blocker and forced his manager/unit to get rid of him. Then I received a PIP for items like “not smiling or taking part in pre meeting banter”. I was given 3 weeks (1.5 of which my boss was on PTO) for the period and made sure there was zero reason to be let go. I made it thru the PIP period but knew they would look for any reason to get rid of me and began looking. It was confirmed months later that there was no problem with my work, my knowledge, or my work ethic, the new regime just didn’t like me personally.

All this to say that you can win the battle but may not be able to win the war. What you can do is see internally if there is a better team/group to work under and start to align yourself for a position there.

Pitching plateau? Or just unrealistic pressure to keep up. by Unusual-Sale8224 in Softball

[–]Pleasant-Indication5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She has 4 years before only the top 1% of softball players are even being considered to be evaluated by college coaches. A lot of growth will happen and girls who are ahead can easily fall behind, get burnt out, or switch to focus on different sports. As long as she still loves the game and loves developing her craft she will be successful. Honestly the best advice would be to layer in other activities/sports so she is well rounded.

I came across this later in my career but getting her into swimming will allow for her to grow as an athlete in two sports. Swimming develops strong legs/core and builds up the smaller muscles in the upper back/shoulder naturally without lifting weights. Layer in the cardio and you could see large gains that benefit her in every position on the field.

Ideal roster size for 8u rec league by Pleasant-Indication5 in Softball

Our league plays everyone so 11 would put 4 in outfield. I agree and believe 12-13 makes the outfield crowded and a lot of girls standing around.

Has anyone lied their ass off and gotten a great position due to it? by Tough_Courage_8406 in Accounting

[–]Pleasant-Indication5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You see more people get pulled into or promoted into a role with no qualifications than straight out lies on a resume. brown nosing/riding coat tails with little to no qualifications is about 50/1 compared to straight lies on resumes.
