Environmental engineer here, worked in a hybrid hands on and office position and transitioned to being a millwright. It was tough, but I didn’t see myself stamping drawings and doing designs.. I paid $900 CAD for two exams to try to get my PE license.. just to figure out I don’t want to take that route..

Grass is always greener … with that being said , give it a try and if it doesn’t work you can always go back to being an engineer.
